@ Bosox: The problem is that Maine peed down their leg against good competition in Hockey East (sorry, Merrimack). Where Maine stands to gain with a sweep is in record v common opponents, bumping up those numbers vis-a-vis other Hockey East schools in contention (but mainly BU).
The problem is that Main's H2H record against those teams is so abysmal, that flipping those comparisons will be really tough (BU) or impossible (everyone else).
Maine is close enough that I have to think that an at-large is mathematically possible. You're probably right that, though. Other than not making things harder by losing, Maine has very little say in whether or not it happens.
