Maine Black Bears, 2010-2011, Redemption or FORE, I say......

Re: Maine Black Bears, 2010-2011, Redemption or FORE, I say......

I thought ya'll would get a kick out of this.

From Jim Connelly's Hockey East column:

Coach of the year: Mark Dennehy, Merrimack

Runner-up: Tim Whitehead, Maine

This award, to me, isn’t even a race. I think what Whitehead has done down the stretch to get his team tuned up for the playoffs is impressive, but Dennehy’s team has consistently achieved greatness throughout the year, reaching a number of major program milestones along the way.

That column has been a joke all year, regardless of who writes it. Call two coaches, talk about one team, plug your book, call it a day. They're phoning it in instead of the old "news from every program" style it was.

Even I think this is a joke. Maine has not lived up to anyones expectations this year. Picked 3rd in Hockey East Preseason poll and many of us on this board felt they should be in the NC$$ tourney and even had a shot at getting back to St. Paul. Well I have already agreed to sell my Frozen Four tickets and I am one of the few optimists left on this board! Whistling Dick or Jack should be runner-up. This guy loses all credibility with this mention in my eyes!

Thanks Bomber
Best laugh I've had in a long time. Remember to never read a thing that guy writes again

Re: Maine Black Bears, 2010-2011, Redemption or FORE, I say......

They beat the **** out of Merrimack last weekend! They go to UMass this weekend. Which team shows up? I'm guessing....the timmay team! They should have left yesterday and left him behind. Let Bob coach...at least he'd get a little ****ed instead of chewing the hell out of his gum. I want to believe in this team and we all know they have the talent and the ability, but Timmay is killing them!!!
Coach of the year...are you kidding me! Maybe if your a UNH fan and dont want to see Maine win! Joke of the year..............YES!

Oh chit phk. :D hahahaha

You really want to rate coaches performances in my book this year, imo:

Dennehy
Umile
Cronin
Parker
York
Army
Toots
Snedden
Timmay
McDonald

So basically I think Timmay outcoached the midget at UML this year...that is all.

The verdict on Timmay will all come down to this weekend...unless they split:p

If Maine sweeps UMA this weekend, the last 5 wins weren't a fluke...something BIG changed and either Timmay figured out how to coach this team or the players figured out how to ignore him and just play.

If UMA sweeps Maine, all Maine did was sweep the worst team in HockeyEast in years and sweep a depleted Merrimack team (who should be real worried when DeCosta turns pro in a few weeks...back to the cellar). Timmay is the problem and he needs to go...now.

If they split this weekend, well, we're just back to same old Timmay time. And he pulled a Whitehead on us. See:

I see an internet meme in the making. Pulling a Whitehead = losing when it matters for the team, but winning when it matters for you.

Going to Amherst to take my annual paddling...

Was thinking about bailing on the weekend, but The Warden insisted on seeing her Bears.(She doesn't know much or care much about the PWR;she bleeds Blue, and takes it one Maine game at a time.)

Guess a Maine sweep-which is a pretty tall order at Mullins-will not hurt their chances, but I expect a loss there will be a coffin-nail.

(A Priceless sighting would be nice right about now.)

Couldn't agree more;I want some of whatever he's smoking.AMC's ratings were far more accurate.(Sadly.)

Anyone have any stats on Andrew Cerretani?

Wait.... Army hasn't won a game yet in 2011. The other Timmay surely has done a better job then that... actually after UML put 7 up on PC I think Blaise even has a leg up on Army. But IMHO there are 3 coaches that legitimately should find alternative employment...Timmay, Timmy and Blaise.

Regardless, do us UVM fans a favor and keep UMA at bay.

Re: Maine Black Bears, 2010-2011, Redemption or FORE, I say......

The team stopped in Gorham yesterday and played on the big ice sheet. The players know how to play on the nearly Olympic sized ice surface. They expressed it well, here.

They skate at Gorham for UMass but not for UNH? Maybe it has something to do with spring break and able to get the time without screwing up classes

Don't expect a lot of rational thought in this thread about Timmay:D

I am sure he'll be there... after all he played for the team back in the 90's and he knows so much about what the team and coach does game to game, period to period and shift to shift.... those are things you don't just absorb from TV, radio and newspaper.

I just hope that he is cheering louder than my family and I will be.... and we will be THERE and cheering

Re: Maine Black Bears, 2010-2011, Redemption or FORE, I say......

Kind of pumped to see shemansky available. He could really bring some spark to that third line, especially given how Beattie's been playing. Dont know if you want to mess with amestoy but....

The weekly conference columns used to be an event. And we had the best of the bunch. I never missed it. Dave could be a goofball, but the man could write.

I think they skated at Gorham on the way to UHN, too. fat lot of good it did them the first night, they were lost defensively out there on the big surface.
