Why would Gus come back to this again next year?. He's frustrated and he's getting hacked on extensively, they're keying on him,Not a chance he's in Orono next Sept.

When is he getting hacked on? I've seen every game, and I haven't seen teams gunning and hacking him. They have keyd in D wise on him, but that should make more room for his line mates.

If hes going to be a star at every level its going to be the same, people are going to keep an extra eye on you, if he doesn't learn to deal with it and keep the points rolling thats not a good sign. I think hes trying to do to much, to pretty, keep it simple pass it more to the guys who are open and things will click. I still think Dee on the first line was a good move, and not sure why they moved Abbott back, they were rolling at the start.

Who is UNH playing this weekend? I asked my sister - a Maine Fan-atic - but she didn't want to talk about it.

Maine is in a down cycle with our coach but one thing I will laugh at is unh fans trying to talk any kind of smack. When has UNH ever beat maine in an important playoff game?

My older sister and I - she a UMaine alum, me a UNH alum - have kidded each other forever over the Maine-UNH rivalry. She and I enjoy the banter and realize it's all in good humor. She and I watched the 1999 Championship Game together and when the winning goal went in, I said "Crap!" and then gave her a hug. I see a difference between good-natured ribbing and "smack." I hope most Maine fans realize I meant no offense.

Hockey East championship game (but that was only important until UNH finally won one)

but if fans of your MUCH superior rival can't take some ribbing....that says much more about those fans than our historicaly DOMINATED team.

Please hold on for a sec. UNH fans. Walrus' point was right on the money. The ribbing back and forth between rival fans belongs on the UNH/Maine game thread. This is their thread and it's reasonable for them to expect to come on here and say what they want without a rival fan commenting on it. So, can we move the ribbing over to the game thread? Thanks.
Suggestion to UMaine fans: Photoshop the UNH Champion pin onto one of those poor fellows with a genetic, learning disorder.

LOL ok congrats on the HE win I ment NCAA playoffs should have said that I guess. I happen to remember Maine vs UNH from 2002 from the game won 7-2 over UNH in the frozen Four. Also you speak of the fans in new hampshire? My brother lives close to Durham and said he had to stop bringing his kids to games at UNH when Maine played there because adult fans were heckling and swearing at him and his kids. Very classy I must say .LONG LIVE the Universiy of No Hardware!

Dude I don't think so at all, at lil hacking and scrumming is hockey, he isn't getting it worse then anyone, I watch behind the play all the time, I've been to 8 games this year as well. When he has the puck for sure they are going to take a bit of exception, but the rest is just hockey.

Whitehead said his team has run into “hot goalies,” particularly against the top four teams, but he feels his young goaltenders are improving and will get the job done down the stretch and in the years to come.

Whitehead failed to mention that he also ran into hot goalies against UConn, Merrimack, Providence and Michigan State, and Vermont... gosh, they were all hot except Dell from North Dakota who had just flown in from Alaska and was playing with only 3 or 4 skaters in front of him all weekend.

that SUX for Maine to have to face so many hot goalies all season long

wanna bet that Maine will see Carr get hot in a couple weeks? and/or Dainton?

then of course Cannatta will get hot in the playoffs, IN NORTH ANDOVER, IF Maine is lucky... and does not have to go to Comm Ave.

You know,I kinda hate to agree with you,but it would certainly be refreshing to hear Tim say:"These are my recruits,this is my system,and if Maine misses the NCAA's yet again,it's all on me."
I haven't heard anything like that from him over these past 4 years of failure,and I don't expect to hear him say that anytime soon.

The forwards Maine has are a talented bunch,and the 'tending is decent...I just think it has to be handled in a more orderly fashion.If the head coach isn't going to be accountable,we're going to go on seeing a trickle-down effect on the players,IMO.

Somebody needs to step up to the plate here.Maine is not close to being in the tournament now...What is there to lose?

I haven't heard anything like that from him over these past 4 years of failure,and I don't expect to hear him say that anytime soon.

This Program under TW has gone down-hill ever since he took over...he will NEVER admit to it...why should he...he has a NEW 3yr deal in his pocket....Maine is in trouble this season and on with him...nothing happens and you can kiss the Maine Hockey winning days OVER...maybe 2 games over .500 one season then 3 yrs in a row of sub.500 hockey.....watch the end of this regular season...they will be lucky to finish 5-5-0 to end the season and miss out on Home Ice in Hockey East.....he should have NEVER been given a extension of 3yrs....but we know how that came about(Blake James).....lets HOPE the New President and NEW AD have some insight and see what this Program means and where it's going in the next 5-6 years...if NOT....well welcome to Titanic Hockey...aka Maine "In a MESS" Hockey.

It doesn't matter how hot the goalie you're playing against is if you give up a touchdown plus an extra point

The title line on the uscho page should of read its time to hit the eject timmay button!!! Its sad to even care anymore about the program becuase until that moron is gone the program is going nowhere but down!!! As in down in the rankings, down in the season end push, down in the 1st round of the playoffs etc.....the theme of failure continues and will as long as timmay boy is allowed to run(sink) the ship!!!
Why can't they just drop him off in Durham this weekend and leave him there???
That article in the BDN pretty much said everything, it was excuse after excuse, hot goalie, effort, blah blah, we lose...I don't look at stats...exactly why do I care about W or L...my loser buddy blake gave me 3 more years to lose and I know how to due that well......timmay " i am a loser" whitehead over n out!!! Thanks for paying me... win or lose... I get paid...
