Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Wally, Larry said that Sully had a lower body injury and he was hoping to learn more after the game..
That isn't good at all. While Martin has an upside, his downside is lack of concentration. The 1st goal last night was inexcuseable, the 2nd was soft, not sure if he fell asleep or what. Maybe BC will generate enough shots so he keeps his head in the game.

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Really? because Maine started this season pretty highly ranked. Fans, writers, and coaches across the country discussed how dangerous Maine was, the team has been receiving way more respect in the polls than they deserve.
I don't think any opponent has underestimated this team, Maine (maybe BC) fans are the only ones who have been calling the program an afterthought.

Are you timmay in disguise? :confused:Potential gets you fired, you had the potential to do well and did not, you had the potential to be a good team and you are not, you have the potential to play a high paced/hustle style hockey and you do not...you getting the potential of this being another season of could of ,would of and golfing by March season. That is Timmay's expertise the ability to coach the life out of the team by recruiting badly, not developing players, non-check hockey, no motivational abilities, no capability to make in game adjustments.....thats just a few of his unique qualities that enable him to take a potential good team and make simply pathetic. Just like last night another flat performance against a bottom dwellar and they just got lucky to get a win in OT. Oh well, as much as I hate to say it, I hope BC comes out and crushes Maine so we can hear some more good excuses and be embarrassed on national TV. Thats where timmay excels by standing on the back of the bench with a dazed and confused look on his face. I could go on but..... Enjoy Timmay time.....

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

From what I have read Mangene was great last night. Is it premature to hope that the experiment on defense has ended? I am hesitant to bring it up, in case any rational fans are reading comments from a collection of internet nutcases, and they decide to re-instate some of the proven methods of enhancing opportunities for the other team to beat Maine.

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Mangene was excellent but why he was on the 2nd line is kind of baffling. Why put Diamond with Klas? I don't see Klas helping Diamond generate any chances. As it turned out it didn't matter. Mangene missed a wide open net on an excellent pass from Dimmen which was kind of disappointing.

Thats how Martin looked against Merrimack too.

And howiz, who cares? I dont know, hockey fans? Every time PC gets a point against somebody in this league it helps in the PWR; common opponents, RPI.

I root for Maine. I'm happy when they win even if I'm not happy with how they played. If you root for them to lose just so you can be "right" then just pick another favorite team. Lighten up bro

Congrats on the win last night Maine fans! When I heard the news on the radio on the way home from the UAA game, I said "YES!!!" Keep it up!

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Cornell and Mangene were Maine's top players last night, without a doubt. I honestly think Mangene is snake bitten and at times reminds me of Todd Jenkins. Cornell belongs on the blue line and Mangene should remain at forward. Sully hurt his ankle during practice.

Give me a break..........both at - 2.....turnovers at the blueline and trouble finishing. Thought Flynn and Abbott were the top players..........

Timid Tim said he wanted a responsible defensive player on that line. Because we all know it's better to win 2-1 or 3-2 playing dull, afraid to make a mistake TIMMAY hockey than it is to let the reins go, let the guys hustle and forecheck all over the ice, and use speed and quickness, and some nasty edge in front of the goal to generate chances.

When did these guys stop driving the net, forechecking aggressively, and camping out in front? Now it seems all they do is skate in from the circle and dish the puck back or across for a slapper from up high. It's telling that after a third period that was all this, they score a goal off a rebound with the player right in the goalies face moving across the crease. As was said, this was supposed to be a gung-ho, high-scoring offense. Right now, they're back to making every goalie we play look All-World.

Timid Tim also said Sully hurt himself in the morning skate. Timid Tim also said that they had a great week of practice, but then again, they also had a great week of practice before the Merrimack game. So why then is he telling the papers that his seniors aren't working hard enough in practice? I mean, if they had a great week of practice and all. Which is it TIMMAY, did they practice well or didn't they? Or can't you even tell?

House coughed up the puck behind the net that led to the tieing goal. It seemed he kind of nonchalanted picking it up behind the net, like he wasn't expecting PC to forecheck hard at him, puck squirted out front, Van Dyk took a swat at it, but it went off his stick right to the PC forward charging down the slot. Lazy play, stupid turnovers, and see what happens?

Mangene was great last night. Looks like TIMMAY listened to the internet nutcases here and decided to play his forwards at forward and his defensemen on defense.

Team didn't stink up the joint, but then again, they didn't really over-impress much either. As was said, they played just well enough to beat Providence, but they didn't look all that charged up and motivated in doing so. They play like this and BC's gonna eat their lunch.

Thats not good, I wonder if he is ready to play at this level?
Some goaltenders need to see ALOT of urbber to be in the game...looks like he needs 30 shots a game to keep him sharpe...IMO...reminds me of Allison and Howard, both were at the best when they were peppered with shots...Howard was just plain awesome in situations like that....here's hoping that they can light a fire under Ouellette,as I still think he's a good goalie...lets hope Sullivan's injury is not too serious...they both need each other in the crease battle.......

So......you're saying there is a chance?

Not much talk about Sirman with the rotation ?............ I think he earns the start with Sully out. If you snooze you loose..............just my opinion..........you have to be ready for the game and be held accountable............those softies are killers and motivates the opposition. Anyways last night's game was a bore...........but an important 2 points regardless...........

Apparently you spent most of your time watching players with the puck.

I didn't notice Cornell but if all the players on the team played as hard as Mangene this team would be pretty good

I don't think you're getting me. I didn't say: throw in the towel right now. I was saying that if something doesn't change pronto, you can, based on our current rate with no signs of improving it. Hence, who cares?

My point was: at the rate we're going we can't win on the road, period and we're not playing well enough to take major points from the quality teams we have left at home: which 5 of our what? 9 remaining home games fall under that category. So at the rate we're going we're not cracking a home ice spot...our top 4 will all be Tucs, and we're averaging less than 1 goal per game against tucs away from home so we're done in that scenerio. Even if we go on a home winning tear that puts us in the top 4, once we're out of Orono we're screwed.

Readers Digest Version: this might be one of the most miserable away from home teams I've ever seen....so NOTHING matters if they can't win on the road. Can't win Hockey East without winning in Boston and Orono isn't hosting both regionals and frozen four competition this year so EVEN if they qualify for anything thanks to home wins like friday's...if they can't do Jack after qualifying, who cares?
