Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

No one decides it. A true Maine fan wants the team to win and does not wish for them to lose.

Been wishing them to win for the past 6 years, and it's been pretty disappointing. I wish Whitehead would have won a title by now and still had his team in the top ten. But we've cracked the top ten for all of 3 weeks over those 6 years? Not acceptable. Going to the Alfond is still one of my favorite things to do. But going to a 2/3's full Alfond to watch sub .500 hockey just doesn't make going there the same. He's had plenty of time to right this ship, and has failed miserably. I live and breathe Maine hockey, but it's time for a new direction.

By defining what a true Maine fan is I guess you're deciding?

We should all be happy with mediocrity. What is the matter with you all. If Walsh had never coached at Maine, Tim Whitehead would be our hero. Think about that.

Very glad to hear how this game out. The news this morning made it sound like it could have been far, far worse. Speedy recovery to all.

Thanks for voicing your concern. It could have been far worse.

This is good news for Coach Whitehead and the team..........I'm hoping that Maine can sneak into the playoffs and do some damage. Would also like to see an extension in the off-season........if not, it will really hurt recruiting over the summer.

Reality may be the exactly opposite. The new recruits could be coming in because they think Whitehead is going to be gone this year, or next.

Hell yeah. Why do you think that Dubuque goalie came to Maine? Why because he knew Jim Montgomery would be in charge in the 2013-2014 season !!!

If not for Walsh, we would not even know who Tim Whitehead was. He would be some HS coach in NY or Ohio...he would not be a college coach, much less a Division I coach.

What game? Do you see any emoticons after his posts?

He finally sees that it is futile to be repeatedly negative. Just a futile endeavor and has lost entertainment value. After all, that's all these threads really are.

How is constantly covering for Whitehead's butt avoiding negativity? Because according to San Diego, Whitehead deserves to be hc next year and needs to get an extension so that recruiting isn't harmed. -.-

I see that you are a relatively new member of the forum. Welcome. Just a little history. Sandie and a few others have been constantly posting negative and derogatory comments about the Maine coaching staff, some of it deserved. Everyone has an opinion and should state it, but to state it repeatedly serves no purpose and adds nothing to other discussion topics. Sandie, to his credit, appears to be abandoning that approach.

I don't see the U buying-out all of Tim's remaining year.

What I'd like to see is them buying-out the second half of '13/'14, if the team hasn't made great strides by then.

Not only would that be more affordable, but it would also afford Corkum an opportunity to show what he can do with the same sample of players. (I'm pretty curious about that... We might already have the next successful Maine coach right there in Orono.)

That will never happen...IF and thats a big IF...either TW is gone after the season or he is still the Coach for the 2013-14 season,as a Lame Duck Coach...most Coaches would feel the pressure with that,BUT TW more or less if afforded the chance will ride it out...hopefully something gets done after the season, but IF they stay the course with TW and honor his last season..."NO" Extension added to it...bad enough as a Lame Duck...total MESS no matter how you slice/dice it up. And as far as a Coaching List, you'll see MANY interested people when or IF it should happen...Corkum could very well toss his hat into the fray...along with a Montgomery and the list will grow...imo...they'll be NO shortage of interesteded people.

Whats the scoop on this latest Minn. Mr. Hoc. finalist who's committed to Maine. Is he the real deal?

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Yea saw the article. Amazes me kids like this wouldnt go to UMinn or Min-Duluth or some other more local University. I mean it's different than a Maine kid goin to a place like BC, where they have a ligit chance to win it all every year.

"We should be really good" as soon as Whitehead is ousted.
