Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

It is not all about winning, it is about getting a UMaine education and degree.................

great, then start playing Bowdoin and USM, stop wasting money on recruiting trips, stop paying the coaches over 100K each, stop traveling to North Dakota and stop charging over $20 per ticket.

There is nothing wrong with putting the UMaine education above all else for the "student-athletes",

I have no problem with D3 hockey, just don't make it cost what D1 costs and please don't make these poor kids play against Jerry York's team

Education is a big part of the equation...and nobody is against that...but you can do Education and Winning Hockey together...and it used to happen.

With all due respect,Tim's job is to win hockey games, and whole lots of them.He hasn't been able to do that for a long while.

These days,if you want to keep your coaching position at a competitive D-1 school in nearly any marketable sport, you need to keep the pipeline flowing.Graduation rates are irrelevant, clearly, and that's just fine as long as your program sends players to the next level and reloads every year.

Maine isn't doing any of that now,or at least, not doing it enough.

You are right that TW's job is winning games at Maine...and I can say I DON'T endorse TW as the Coach for Maine Hockey...he's made a mess and his buddy[James]has stradled the U with a 3 yr extension, which should ONLY been a 1 yr deal so the A.D.[Abbott]could have made his jop alot easier...will be very interesting to see come next April if the team is say 12-18-4...will the shoe drop..?

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

a cheater?
The actions taken that resulted in NCAA violations occurred 5-10 years prior to Shawn's death in 2001. During this time period, he grew tremendously as a person, began a new life with a new wife and with a whole new attitude and outlook, and then courageously battled cancer. If you want to remember him exclusively as someone who committed some NCAA violations and call him a cheater, that's your choice, but it says a lot more about you than it it comes close to capturing all the man became during the final years of his life.

They had a quick interview with Steve Abbott on WABI. They shot the video on what will be the ice surface, looks close to to getting ice again. No more dirt, all the piping is in, wire for the concrete is in. they're working on the lower bowl concrete. Still on for Sept 19th completion

Season ticket renewals. Who is in and who is out? I decided not to renew mine this season. The 3+ hour drive to the games has become too much to bear, especially with the the product on the ice.

So no more green liquid oozing up in the creases? ;-)

Kept one season ticket and dropped 2 season tickets because of Whitehead.

The thought never crossed my mind about dropping mine (I'm another one that has a 3+ hour drive). Am anxiously looking forward to the upcoming season!!

oh well... then Tim will never get the message.

and for all of you (Dirt) who do drop the tickets because of the product out on the ice, MAKE SURE YOU tell the AD's office exactly why you dropped and are no longer contributing to the hockey program (and what it would take to get your support back)

Maine Event, are you going to be the ONLY Maine fans in North Dakota this coming October?

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Alumni game today at 3:00 p.m. at the MHG Ice Centre in Saco. Lots of scoring in this game. Billy Ryan nets 5 goals! Mike Morrison in goal along with many other alumni in attendance. Concrete is scheduled to be poured tomorrow at the Alfond.
