Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Its actually a really smart move retaining the bleacher seats. First off, you can fit more bleachers in an area than large chairback seats. The chairbacks will have 30" of legroom and will vary from 18-22" in width. The bleachers will have 24" of legroom and be 18" wide; same as before and the industry standard. More chairbacks equal less seats. Second, the concrete on the ends doesn't have to be changed for bleachers. Other than moving and adding staircases on the north ends, along with expanding ADA seating, the bleacher sections will remain the same. It would of been very difficult to adjust the concrete to accommodate chairback seats with the lower skyboxes and locker rooms underneath the south end.

This may be true but I think the initial news was the lower bowl was going to have chair back seats, not just the sides but the lower bowl. Maybe I read that wrong but my impression was the whole thing was going to be chair backs.

This "renovation" has TIMMAY written all over it!

The seating is being done half-*ssed..........people have been quoted as saying that the entire lower bowl was geting new chair back seats. Now they are putting in benches that are even less comfotable than the old ones! I hate the molded "curved" ones in the upper side sections. Once again a huge chunk of change has been spent on the white elephant.........and it will still look more patch-worked than ever.

How many games last year would those 400 seats been an issue? How many sellouts (or within 400 of sellouts) were there?

Sure, it's $125k in theory, but its not like the arena is selling out every night. And if they ever get back to consistent sell outs game in and game out, guess what? To make back $125,000, figuring 5,000 seats sold, you need an extra $25 from each seat over the course of the season. That's like a $1 ticket increase. Like I said, I think it will be okay.

So what was all the money spent on if they aren't having back seats?

Now that Swann Boisvert is coming in 2012 that leaves 7 incoming players and 8 departing. Do you guys think there will be a late recruit added, someone bumped up from the 2012 class, or just a roster decrease?

Lots, especially if no one is allowed to take the body.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Well here's my "GUESS" at the seasons record/etc.... 14-16-4 Overall record,5th place in Hockey East with no advancment past the Quarterfinals and No NCAA's....Hockey East as a whole will be down with early signings and alot of good players graduating...with Maine it will come down to Goaltending...imo. Anyone else care to venture into what maybe..?

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

I predict TIMMAY's newest man-crush will be Bill Norman. TIMMAY will keep calling him Bret in practice.

It will be a miracle if Timmay develops a man crush strong enough that he refrains from bringing up the one who got away (Purcell). Timmay is like a scorned lover when it comes to his Teddy leaving early. Anyone want to place bets on the date by which Whitehead brings up that ol' Chestnut?

Ever game which they get beat...keep a record of the excuse of the week and how many times he looks himself in the mirror and takes some or all the blame in a lost or preparation...I hope it's not a long season of any of his excuses/etc.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

I don't think he had a man-crush on Purcell, not the way he did on Tyler, Hopson, or Bishop. Purcell's just a convenient excuse for why his teams continually underachieve, cause we all know it's not the coaching that's the problem.

But Purcell's off the hook, finally, now it's all because Nyquist left early.

Yup...your right on...Nyquist's name will be the filler in with the excuse of the week...pretty sad if you think about it....same old/same old...till change.

We have one of the best coaches in college hockey. You guys should just get over it. Coach Whitehead develops kids and as fans we have the luxury of watching a great program. Go Black Bears!!!!!!!
