Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

<-- cynic
I am beginning to realize that the definition of a purist when thinking about sport is the ability to make money not the sport itself. There is no such thing as a league or situation that doesn't have $$ involved. Even kid sport is driven by $$ not love of sport.

They are probably supposed to roll over and play dead for the 'good of the sport' (roughly translated- to make the most money even if it compromises the sport.)

The way I see it is the compromising the sport will eventually cost you money anyways. If they know they can roll you over then things will just get worse

Re: Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

Thank god. I can't believe they're doing this again so soon, it just seems so tired and overdone.

Actually, based on past history, they should have done it this past season. The 1st game was in 2010, after that it was 2012 and then again in 2014. Or, as Shawn Hutcheon said in the Lowell Sun - "an annual event since 2010".

It is overdone though, and I am also glad that Lowell is not involved. The "fan experience" is very overrated for these games.

Re: Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

At the end of the day, the only thing I care about is whether this helps or hurts with either how the current players feel (would they like the experience) or if it affects recruiting? I have no answers to either of those.

Does the fan experience suck? I guess? I had good seats, so I don't have much to complain about. It was a cool thing to do once (for me). But the fan experience sucks going to Dartmouth's rink and Brown's rink, etc. Who cares, we still go because it's our team.
