Little Known Facts and D-III Tidbits 09-10!

Re: Little Known Facts and D-III Tidbits 09-10!

Having someone with a single, usually hand held video camera focusing on the puck is much different than putting together a webcast/broadcast.

Who said anything about a single, usually hand held video camera:confused: I thought the discussion was about webcasts. I think the posters here know the difference.

I took what OnMAA said in his/her reference to a team video coordinator as a suggestion towards that being used as a webcast.

Say What? Take this for what it is worth as it is just my opinion:eek: (I'm in trouble already) , but having had the opportunity to speak with both women’s and men’s head hockey coaches and the AD separately on several occasions, it is my firm belief that the three are living in their own little narcissistic worlds and could care less what outside people think or see of their programs. As long as the Championships keep rolling in, be d***ed with 21st century technology or for that matter what they do and how they do it.;)

You would, at the very least like to think the AD would understand the benefits of webcasts.

LPowers & Tweedle Dee report on another thread that all RIT games will either be webcast on B2 networks or TWCS this year.

Way to go RIT!

Both will happen. All home games are webcast on B2 and 6 home games will be televised live on Time Warner cable sports.

RIT did a great job with the televised women's games last year. And continue to do a great job with the men's games this year.

Re: Little Known Facts and D-III Tidbits 09-10!

In Plattsburgh, WIRY radio covers alot of the men's women's games. They have professional play by play and colour commentators that do an excellent job.

I've listened to many of their webcasts and would prefer this to a one-sided, herky jerky tv production conducted by communications students who dont know a puck from a horse turd.

Well Thanks Seymore!

I logged on and while searching the site to see if they covered any college games this weekend was serenaded by Tony Orlando and Dawn with the age old classic, Tie a Yellow Ribbon around the Old Oak Tree.

I must admit I welled up a bit.... but was still unable to find any coverage details.

Any idea if they are covering the games this weekend?

There are likley a few communications students whom might take offense to this but I thought it was kinda funny.....

Actually not sure if tapes shared in D1 are formal webcasts or not. Still does not answer the question I had. Is there a requirement in D3 to share/provide tapes of your home games to other teams including future opponents ?. Pretty sure this requirement exists in the D1 world, at least that is what one recruiter told me once when I asked how they got a hold of a tape from the previous week for an upcoming opponent.

I dont think it's required basing on conversations I've had with coaches.

I think it's usually a "good faith" thing to do but not required by my best guess.

We all know about Platty's situation. What about the rest of the ECAC East/West teams?

Anybody else know if their respective teams are webcasting?

Neumann has been webcasting usually the first game of a home weekend. Don't know why they don't do the second game in a series. Kind of disappointing really.

Re: Little Known Facts and D-III Tidbits 09-10!

Unfortunately, no coverage of Platty/Elmira contests this weekend. If you wanna see them, you'll have to hop in the buggy and trot down the highway to Stafford.

WIRY radio's first broadcast is the Neuman weekend.

Too bad...this is the premier match up in the early goings!!

Thanks for checking into it Seymore. I'm sure there will be more than a few disapointed fans.

Wonder what ESPN is doing this the weekend....I think I'll call them. :)

Re: Little Known Facts and D-III Tidbits 09-10!

RIT slays Potsdam 17-1 today while outshooting them 78-7.

Talk about running up the score...

Is this the most lopsided outcome in the history of women's D3 hockey?

On the bright side: Potsdam 7 shots and one goal scored!! The RIT goalie may see a drop in her SP!!

Elmira beat Neuman 15-0, 15-0, 13-0 and neumann forfeited once in 01-02
Elmira outshot Neuman 182-15 in the 3 games

Chatham lost to Utica 18-0 and forfeited the next day in 04-05

Re: Little Known Facts and D-III Tidbits 09-10!

I'm guessing the team decided not to play the game...in both cases Elmira/Utica were awarded a 1-0 win. would you want to play that game?

Of course.

What coach worth their weight would go to their team after an arse kickin and say to them "We lost so bad yesterday we aren't going to play them today."

Thats unbeleivable. There is a rule that say's you can quit?

Its definitely not illegal. Teams forfeit for various reasons.

OK Thanks for the info gojackets. I never knew that.

I can see a team forfeiting because their bus hit the ditch...but because they got beat?

I'd fire the coach on the spot.
