More on the goalie situation. Tyler Marble has only played in 7 games for Traverse City all season and doesn't have very good numbers, so I don't see him playing for the Lakers before the 2011/12 season, if ever. He hasn't yet proven he can play regularly at the Junior hockey level. He'll need to improve before he's good enough to even be the #3 goalie at LSSU.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Michigan has been up and down all year but I just don't see the Lakers being able to take 2 games in their barn.

Unless the unexpected happens, another disappointing season. Of course we are use to saying that now aren't we.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Truth, if you dislike the Lakers (or rather their coaching staff) so much, why don't you just move on to another thread ... spread your upbeat attitude and cheer with people who care ...

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I'll drink to that sm2pk.

They will have to borrow some of those curling brooms at Yost this weekend cause it going to be a Michigan sweep and continued downward progress for this administration and this team.

The Truth Is Out There...

truth,I am not happy they lost and actually very tired of them losing and not able to show any improvement where as you seem content and upbeat about another disappointing season.

That totally speaks to his identity ... he's not as anonymous as he thinks ...

In what respect do you think this season was "continued downward progress"? Although most of us aren't happy with the finish, the Lakers did win 3 more conference games, and 4 more games overall, than they did last season.

Thanks Bill ;) Funny you mention it, as I just wondering if the situation with Ravn was due to Marble being in the pipe.
When being asked why he signed Tyler Marble so young and with so little acheivement, Roque answered that otherwise somebody else would have taken him.
It sounds very surprising, but that doesn't mean he is wrong. He must have the hockey recruiting flair ... otherwise he wouln't be headcoach :)
By detecting assets we don't see, he gives the Lakers a winning edge.

I am just trying to understand, but I realize I won't be Lakers headcoach :(

Bill, the thing that bother me I think in the end was how bad they were with an offense the last 10 games of the season. Even the Alaska announcer made the remark that Lake State seemed incapable of setting up scoring chances and that is pretty much what we have been debating for the last 12 years here...where the hell is the offense.

Bill, you do a great job,no a fantastic job in keeping us in the news with what is going on with the recruits coming in and how well they are doing in goals and assist and all the things Lake State has to get to make a move up the standings. My concern has always been the same and it seems it is played out every season. No matter how many goals the recruits are scoring in the Juniors, they seem to dry up when they hit the ice at the college level.

I think someone on this thread said that they thought there was some connection between Marble's dad and Jim Roque; friends or something. I think that may have been just after Marble committed. I don't remember the exact details. But it seems that Marble just hasn't been been progressing the past couple of seasons. I doubt that LSSU offered him much if anything in the way of scholarship money, although I don't know for sure.

I agree with your concern sm2pk. While watching the games at Northern this weekend it seems like they are not passing or receiving the puck well at all. Thats been one of the big problem of theirs lately if someone is in the slot they either don't receive the puck in a shooting position or they try to handle it before shooting, wasting valuable time doing so. It's like they are squeeezing their sticks to tight or something.
Inconsistent play is another thing the overtime goal on friday was a shame because it seemed like the Lakers just let Olver skate around all of them not giveing Beemer much help at all. You are not supposed to let the other teams best player loose near the net like that and Northern proved why that is.
I have got to wonder why Roque pulled the goalie with nearly 5 minutes to play only down by 2 goals that was just disgusting to sit and watch. Is he under pressure or something?
And Bill if memory serves me right one was in the others wedding party concerning Marble.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

What a disappointing 10th place finish and now we play Michigan. I don't have very high hopes. I think we can take one game from them, but not the series.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Perky,Roque pulled the goalie in desperation that 6 players just might score a goal.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Isn't this about the 3rd week in a row that half or more of the "CCHA Players of the Week" have come from the team that Lake State played against?

That is usually a pretty good sign that your team is playing like *****.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

The new Norris Center will look pretty good. Much props to LSSU and the donors for making this happen.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Wow the Norris is going to be awsome when it's done. How wonderful a thing to do for the University, i wish to thank whoever is picking up this tab it is awsome.

The wife is sick so i won't be going to the Laker hockey show so hopefully someone can post a few of the info from the show.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Looks like the renovations to the Norris is going to be pretty sweet. Hopefully it will benefit our hockey team and help with recruiting.

Anybody going to the Michigan games? Looks like there are plenty of tickets available right now. I'm guessing Michigan students are going to be on Spring Break.

I had planned to watch the games on TV, but if their students are all on spring break, I just might have to drive the short distance to their barn and watch the games in person.
