Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I guess the answer is no streaming. Anyone in the Soo area care to share what was discussed?

I guess no one caught it bill. Next week if there is one i'll have to go up to the soo to see it in person and pass some of the info along to you.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I haven't heard the show with Crawford but I would hope he might ask a couple tough questions and why continued double digit finishes happen with this team over the past 5 years, after it was starting to be built from the ground up earlier last decade under the legendary coach that built its foundation from the beginning in the early 1980's.

Yeah Frank did a heck of a job in his second tenure. With Frank at the helm they got a whooping 32 wins in 4 years..including 9 wins one year! There's no telling how many wins we would have had these past few years if Frank would not have been fired. We might have been able to see 10...or even 11 wins in a season. Who knows? The Lakers might have even finished as high as 10th or even 9th place! And surely with Frank's ever so exciting "dump and chase" plan we would have seen guys scoring a record # of points!

To go one further.. Not even a podcast archive available to listen to.
Sure looks like the change in broadcast partners is taking the media portion of Laker athletics backwards a few steps from the progress we were able to finally enjoy this year.

Next we'll hear they're canceling all phone, fax lines and data lines and going back to morse code and smoke signals to relay information..

I guess it is a good news/bad news situation. Good news Crawford is back and we will actually hear him be critical of the Lakers when it is needed. Bad news is more of the same issues and problems as last year. But I guess that is the price you pay to have Crawford in the broadcast booth.

Several people were let go in conjunction with the purchase of the stations and resulting merging of personnel. I suspect at least one Internet support guy lost his job. I'm disappointed but not terribly surprised that we lost ground, at least for the time being. This happened very late in the season. What will really be disappointing is if we don't get streaming of the Laker Hockey Show back by next season, as well as podcasts of it, the pre-game show, and the actual games.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

This weekend will be the tell tale all of the Lakers season. They have the opportunity to step up and claim that they are for real and secure home ice for the playoffs....if not, they will go down once again as nothing more than pretenders who teased their fans just enough to actually have them start believing again, only to crush their hopes once more at the end of the season.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

lakers get commit from goalie of the year in the ojahl.Kevin Kapalka has committed to attending Lake Superior State University on a scholarship.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Colin Campbell had 2G and 3A for a 5 point night and Kevin Kapalka had 36 saves in a 6-3 win for Vaughan over Kingston in the OJAHL playoffs this evening.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Paula Weston talks about a $5 million dollar renovation of the Norris Center in her article this week. Anyone heard anything about that before?

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Any Laker fans in the Sault heading to Marquette tomorrow might wanna keep a close eye on the weather. It might get pretty bad.

Exciting news. Hopefully this new regime at the radio station will have the Laker Hockey show back online. It shouldn't be that hard. If they don't they will be getting an official complaint! Come on guys this is 2010 it shouldn't be that hard.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

It's interesting that Kapalka was named goalie of the year in the OJAHL even though Vienneau (Kingston) is the goalie in that league that gets most of the publicity and has apparently narrowed his choices to Michigan and Minnesota.
