Laker Hockey 2009-10

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Taunting the opposing players is all part of the game, until it crosses the line into singling out a particular palyer with profanity or personal attack. You can imagine that with a name like "Frick", my sons and I have had our share of comments in bad choice. Once vulgarity reaches the level that it can be heard on TV or radio broadcasts, it reflects poorly on the school and aministrators will attempt to curb it. When parents are seen leaving the arena with small children early in the second period, there are problems.

Well that didn't happen saturday, and if anyone was leaving early it was to avoid the traffic with the weather and the fact it was 8-1.....

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Sorry Miami fans but there comes a time when you are leading 8-1 ,9-2 and the game has long been over and you are still screaming out names of players and how they suck, you gone beyond supporting your team on to victory. I wasn't sure if we were at a MI game or a Miami game.

Ill be kind here because I generally respect and enjoy most Laker fans, but you sound like a bitter parent who watched his/her kid get their tail handed to them.

If you can't handle it don't go. Was it tough to tell because the Miami team and program has rising to the same level as Michigan's? Grow up and quit knit picking because a teams student section is into the game until the very end.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

If there are any questions or head scratching by Miami fans on why LSSU fans would get upset for making noise at a hockey game I can tell you this. Since 2005 the Taffy Able Arena sounds more like a library and there not a lot of noise and cheering besides the radio broadcast booth. A lot of the air was taken out of the balloon of Lakers fans after the firing of legendary coach Frank Anazlone.

The Truth Is Out There....

How do you know you say you don't go way up to the sault to the games and you don't listen to the radio so what gives.

I find it hard to beleive you were ever a true Laker fan so your kid must have been cut here or something. So i have to ask you is your last name Sellers or Kitzmiller.

Your constant blowing the Frank Anzalone horn is starting to wear on me and i had no problem with him, i give you another 4 months and i will probably be anti Frank.

The Redhawks soundly throttled the Lakers saturday night emotions of the fans on both teams side are going to be different. One of the reasons i love college hockey is the emotional atmosphere. The loss that Miami and the Burke family suffered friday night should put life in general into the propper prospective i beleive it is time to move on.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Because I know the truth. I would like to hear your argument that the arena is loud when it is more than half full? That Frank Anzalone didn't build the program to prominance, winning their first national championship and responsible for the 2 others. And tell me that the current broadcaster is fair and objective and better than Crawford and Francis? Argue those points then we'll talk because the truth is out there!

That is mute because you are now officially IGNORED.

What is it that you're really trying to get at?

The arena is typically only a little over half full these days because the Lakers haven't had many winning seasons since Jeff Jackson left. No one argues with that. Winning more games brings in more fans. It's as simple as that.

Yes Frank brought the program to prominence at the Div 1 level. No one argues with that. Previously, Ron Mason and Rick Comley brought it to prominence at the old NAIA level in the early days of the program. Frank isn't solely responsible for the Lakers 2nd and 3rd Div 1 titles. He certainly set a foundation for them but Jeff Jackson rightly deserves more credit than Frank for those two titles.

I haven't seen anyone on this thread say that the current announcers are better than Bill Crawford so why do you want someone to argue that point?

I agree, I ignored the first comment posted but the continue backlash that happened I felt the need to stick up for the students and university. I was in the building saturday and it was an exciting atmosphere and calmer than some nights I have seen it.

Class act Perky, good luck to you and your team.

Yes, let's drop it. I don't know specifically what sm2pk heard at the game and I doubt the Miami supporters on this forum did either, so there's no use dragging this out.

Personally, if Miami makes it to the Frozen Four, I'll probably be cheering them on to win it all, unless of course the Lakers happened to make it that far also. ;)

Thanks for sticking up for the students redhawkman10. I just couldn't let that first comment go through unattested by sm2pk. I believe our students are some of the most spirited, dedicated hockey fans in the country and all we are trying to do is support our team and create a home ice advantage and I don't think we do anything out of line during the games. I always sit right on the glass near the visiting team's bench and a lot of the time I see them laughing at our cheers so I don't understand why that would be something to get upset about in the first place.

I have a great respect for the Lake Superior squad, but just because we are up 8-1 or whatever doesn't mean the students are going to calm down. A hockey game is 60 minutes and we are going to cheer the whole time no matter the score.

Good luck the rest of the way Lake Superior, I know it will be tough to get that first round bye, but we will do our best to help you along the way still having series again UNO and OSU.

I happened to be a student up there when Frank was fired the 2nd time. After that the student section was just as loud if not louder than it was before...mostly because they started winning more games and Roque opened up play a little more making the games more exciting.

You continue to come in here and contribute nothing to the conversation. You simply complain over and over again about the announcers. Who cares!?!?! We should be focusing on the play of the Lakers. Yes, they have struggled the past few weeks but they have played tough teams and in unique circumstances (Saturday night). To hear from fans of the #1 team in the nation that they were impressed with the play of the Lakers should make us feel a little better about our team.

Also I love your insane logic that the team would some how be playing better if Crawford or Anzalone were doing play-by-play...as if they have a direct effect as to what happens on the ice. HA!

The arena was stone cold silent and less than 1/2 full during Frank's second tenure.....if anything, the noise level has picked up since Jim took over.

Yup, Frank was instrumental in building a solid foundation but what the heck does that have to do with today???? This aint 1985 no more truthy!

Crawford no longer wanted to do it and Francis never did it on a permanent basis and did not apply for the job....so what is your point?

Oh I get it, you want us to break into Bill Crawfords house, drag him away at gun point and force him to sit in the broadcast booth and call a Laker game....and while we are at it, we'll kidnapp Francis and tell him that his family will DIE if he does not become Bill's color man.

You are certainly the biggest loser to come around these parts in a very very long time....you easily take the cake over other hall of fame losers like Hobart Higgins and Eagle Bunny....Congrats Truth!

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Anyone else trying to pick up the webcast of the Laker Hockey Show? I'm having trouble getting a connection this evening.

Edit: I just saw on the LSSU Athletics web site that the Laker Hockey Show was cancelled for this evening.

But what if the coach is the biggest offender?? Yep, Blasi can't talk without the "F" word during a game, even to the refs. If I did that in my class room I'd be gone in a heart beat. Yet we are both doing the same job, educating our students.

And this is the guy that preaches "The focus is on three things: relationships, daily behaviors and accountability." Not a real good role-model, at least from the vulgarity viewpoint.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Okay, Miami fans, stop hijacking our thread. Congratulations on last weekend's sweep and best of luck the remainder of the season. Now, get lost. :D :) :p :) :D

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

You are hijacking our thread, that guy is not a Laker fan so take it over to the FSU thread.

Thank you and have a nice day.:)
