Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

They played well defensively and in net but they have to get some goals. We have scored a total of 2 goals in the last 3 games.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

With Schofield in the lineup tomorrow maybe he can give them a little boost. Miami is awfull sound though so hats of to them.

If Mahoney-Wilson plays solid again tomorrow like he did tonight, we can get some points.

Only 2115 at tonight's game. The weather indeed must of been really bad. Glad I didn't go because I'm sure I would of turned around.

I was away from home the first half of the evening. Was there anything of interest on the pre-game show?

weather was the issue, unless you lived in town you werent getting there tonight. Lake will need BMW to play as well as he did tonight in tomorrows game to win but Miami can play that type of game and do enough to win like tonight. Not sure lake can play much better than they did, they looked awfully good tonight. Game went how I thought it would and would expect the same battle tomorrow. Side note, you guys catch the Western-ND score? Western blew them out 7-2...

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

But Ferris did not help us any, losing to NMU in a shootout. Ferris has been reeling lately. They are winless in six of their last seven games.

Weather was worse leaving than coming. 27, the most traveled route out of Oxford to Cinci, was ridiculous. Once it became 2 lanes it was as if they dumped all the snow they could there. Granted that area is in a valley surrounded by Mt Rumpke, but it was very hard to drive even with the Subaru. 275 afterwards was going at a rip roaring pace of... 30 MPH.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Michigan State doesn't help us either, losing to Alaska and they jump us in the standings as well. We are in a three way tie for 6th. By this time tomorrow, we could be as high as 4th (won't happen) or as low as 10th. We must win tomorrow night, MIami is due to lose a game. We must take advantage of stuggling Ferris State next weekend and sweep them. IF these Lakers want to prove they are for real and win respect from the local community, they must win these games! They are capable of doing it, it's on the shoulders of Roque to have his players ready.

Local community must be tough on them then, because with their performance last night they have my respect. Not much Lake st. could of done last night, they battle to the final buzzer. Both goaltenders played extremely well, Miami just capitalized once more. On another note, if Lake st. can win tonight it might jump them into the national tournament with them sitting at 18 in the PWR. Lots of time left guys, no need to panic. This conference is so tight from 3-10 you can jump up or down several spots on a nightly basis, even when you aren't playing you move!

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I have no problem when they play hard and lose it's not like Miami is a so so team. It's when they just don't have it that makes me shake my head, in my oppinion they are haveing a fine season and have been very exciting to watch and follow. And i'm a little disapointed with the lack of fans showing up to cheer them on, other then the Eagles take a few fans away when they are playing in town the same nights they should be drawing real well because it's great entertainment for the cost.

I predict they will come out and get some points tonight. Good luck to Miami after tonight is over we can use the help.

Well your chance of getting points may of taken a big blow with the sad news out of oxford today. Miami's student assistant Brendan Burke was tragically killed in a car accident yesterday. I would expect to see a motivated inspired team playing for their brother tonight.

But we still have UNO and OSU on our schedule so we will do what we can to help you guys out after this weekend as well.

I just got back from the rink and it was pretty somber (except for the youth hockey kids bouncing off the walls--most of the adults who knew what happened looked like zombies). I think this will be a very difficult game for Miami to play. It has to be very hard on the coaches and players. rhm may be right, but I think the game lost a lot of its importance for the Miami people. I guess it is called perspective.

Couldn't agree more, I had only met brendan a small number of times but he was a bubbly kid full of life and a lot of hockey knowledge.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Wow, the wheels have come off this game for the Lakers.

Let's hope they are intact for the rest of the season.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Wow, what an ugly game. Lakers give us 10 goals in a game for the first time since October 28, 2000 when they lost 10-3 to Western Michigan. I knew MIami would be come out on fire and determined after the death of their student assistant.

Yea I tried warning pesky earlier when he said they would get points lol.

Heres the thing, Lake st. had their backs up against the wall before the game even started. This team is such a close knit group and they really came together. It was an emotional moment of silence before the game and it was an emotional game period. Miami came out on a mission and they had very very short fuses. Miami played fast and physical with a lot of emotion. On a normal night some of those scrums don't turn into a brawl. Some ticky tack calls but to be expected with how the first period went. Miami let off the gas at 7-0 and Lake played inspired in the third period which has to be encouraging. First two times of the year Miami has gotten out shot, but an issue is giving up 10 goals on 31 shots.

I don't think any less of this lakers team. They have good size and speed, they were just up against an unbeatable force tonight. I beleive Miami had 6 different goal scores and more than 10 guys with a point. We will try and help you guys out the best way we can down the road, good luck the rest of the season guys!

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Sorry Rhm i have to show love to my Lakers. Best wishes the rest of the regular season and once again my deepest sympathy for your community in the tragic loss.

I hope that the Lakers dig deep and figure what they need to do in the upcomeing weekend, this weekend is over thank god.
