Illegal Immigration Pt. III: It's Illegal to be Illegal? Really?

Re: Illegal Immigration Pt. III: It's Illegal to be Illegal? Really?

One thing you can absolutely count on when/if 1070 takes effect: a veritable niagara of enforcement stories--how unfair the law is, how these are decent hard working people, how the cops (especially Joe Arpiao) are "profiling" them, blah blah blah. The truth will be somewhat less dramatic. But that won't stop the open borders crowd. Every interaction between an illegal and law enforcement will be framed as "proof" of how racist 1070 is--complete with weeping widows and orphans and sincere "human rights advocats" posturing for the evening news.

Very true. The police here are anticipating this, and part of the training regarding 1070 is to teach officers to not react when provacateurs inevitably come calling. Not that it'll stop the posturing that we'll be seeing from such folks, regardless of what the police do or don't do. The police are really in a no win situation on this.

I'm offering 1:100,000 odds this clogs up the courts in arizona.

I'll bet your assumption will be much ado about nothing, despite the attempts of a few degenerates to stir the pot.

I hope you're right. But I obviously have my doubts. i think La Raza, the ACLU, possibly the SPLC will do quite a bit of pro bono work.

They've already taken California back.

At least in Arizona we're putting up a little fight, though from reports, parts of southern Arizona have effectively been swallowed up by Mexico, or to be specific their cartels.

"We"? ;) :p

Resolve it by just annexing the whole **** thing. That's only 100 million more people, a lot of land, some oil, some very beautiful women, and the Guatemala-Belize border is really short. Easier to keep tabs on our Spring Break brats, too.

It'd be a lot cheaper.

Somebody check to see if Bob's okay.:D ;)

I'm fine. My happiness isn't dictated by some judge or law, even if I advocate for what I think is right. I'm really not surprised though, as this is the easy way out for the judge. By the time this winds its way through all the courts, who knows, maybe Obama will just give Arizona back to Mexico. It is a sad state of affairs that a state can't try to control the mayhem and lawbreaking that occurs in it when the feds have punted. But such is the decline of the United States. Those of us on the Mexican border are just seeing the failure of our federal government a bit more directly than those of you in safer climes. The phrase about Nero fiddling while Rome burns seems applicable here.
