Illegal Immigration Pt. III: It's Illegal to be Illegal? Really?

Re: Illegal Immigration Pt. III: It's Illegal to be Illegal? Really?

Obama decides to sue Arizona, but doesn't bother to notify Arizona, rather having Clinton announce it during an interview in Ecuador. Bush league.

And sounds like the touted, though token, additional deployment of National Guard forces on the border is at least delayed by the feds.

there is a sheriff in Arizona (not Maricopa) that says parts of his county are under Mexican cartel control. says he's outmanned and outgunned and is unable to do anything about it.

if this isn't a scenerio for National Guard, I don't know what is. and I'm not talking the desk job guys.

if you listen to our president and the current majority of the legislature this is a racist statement... then you wonder how these half-wits get to run our country when they revel in the strength of their ignorance like its supposed to be celebrated.

...you know the answer...because the GOP establishment showed itself to be on a completely different level of incompetence when it comes to national leadership. For better or worse, the Dems have a very long leash.

The approach on this bill has merits. Yet its execution will frequently break other laws, specifically those which outlaw racial profiling. Law enforcement is opening itself up for gigantic costs with this.

I know its not that popular in this thread, but IMO it would be more productive (and have lower govt costs which I am a fan of) to prioritize enforcement towards fines of the thousands of American companies that make it worthwhile for illegals to come here.

Re: Illegal Immigration Pt. III: It's Illegal to be Illegal? Really?

They don't need enforcement of labor laws regarding illegals. Just make it a $250,000 fine for the first offense and increase it $100k for every other offense. BAM! Instant vacuum. :D

For each illegal. Then we can balance the budget :p

Don't worry, the cartel is only doing the jobs Americans refuse to do

That's what I had in mind :D

While I'm only half joking, it would take some SERIOUS balls (or cajones in this case i suppose) to hire an illegal. Especially if you're a smaller business. A fine like that could financially ruin a man.

Oh, and no one should give me any crap about this being too harsh. One needs to only look at the copyright laws to see that this punishment is actually LESS severe than that for copyright infringement. Hence the half joking part.

Totally agree.

Modern day business carries some responsibility for shaping society...specifically, not to make society much worse off. Taking action against corporations is just enforcing laws that are already on the books and on which everyone already agrees. Taking action would severely nips demand for illegals at the source (and as shown could well generate significant govt income rather than sap it).

But that would be Communist...or Socialist...or some kind of -ist we should be very very afraid of. You can't punish companies, it's better to punish the people...or do nothing.

You can't punish people with money, either, because they create jobs. You might think in a capitalist system demand creates jobs, but no, it's magic pixies whose wealth is therefore sacrosanct.
