Regardless...

...for you as a parent who will someday have a 14 yo who could be coaxed into making mistakes...I do hope your child would be given more leniency than many here advocate they deserve.

I'm not saying the kid deserved to be killed. However, the situation as we know it as presented, I don't blame the cop for firing his weapon.

As for the shot in the head part, cops are trained to shoot for the chest area. They are not trained to shoot a weapon out of a hand, or to take out a person's knee. In this case, he allegedly missed his main target area, and instead hit his target on the high side.

Peer pressure to egg or tee-pee your neighbor's house is not remotely similar to succumbing to tossing rocks at a police officer. I fully empathize with the family and if I was a member of course I'd be distraught, but that doesn't negate the stupidity of putting him in harms way in the first place.

First of all, it's nearly impossible to do this due to the size of the target. Secondly, even if you could shoot the weapon out of someone's hand, the bullet is going to fragment and the shrapnel is very likely hitting the person holding the weapon - maybe not inflicting lethal damage, but it'll be severe damage nonetheless.

While I don't agree with the use of lethal force in this case, I also find it humorous how Mexico is trying to portray the kid as this straight A student and basically a perfect angel of a kid. Um... if he was that good a kid, what the **** was he doing near an illegal border crossing with his friends chucking rocks at the American border patrol? :rolleyes:

Common sense should tell you not to throw things and provoke an armed individual. Does anyone think the Mexican Federales would be lenient if you threw rocks at them?

If I caught my kid doing what this kid was doing, I'd kick his *** myself.

Obama decides to sue Arizona, but doesn't bother to notify Arizona, rather having Clinton announce it during an interview in Ecuador. Bush league.

And sounds like the touted, though token, additional deployment of National Guard forces on the border is at least delayed by the feds.
