Someone's gotta traffic drugs into the country. May as well be the Mexicans.

As long as we need Afghanistan to thrive we should stop the Mexicans and have the Afghans bring it in.

They have over a trillion dollars worth of minerals - they don't need to traffic heroin anymore.

This what passes for "scholarship" in Tucson, bought and paid for by the taxpayers.

Why should anyone be compelled to pay for anti-American tripe in our schools? If Mexicano extremists want their kids to be fed a steady diet of this mythologizing they should do it on their own dime.

So target the problem already and go after UofA on the specific courses...base the real problem of civil rights (stoking racial anger), general hatred and AntiAmericanism. The state instead tries to shut down ethnic studies everywhere. The former approach would attempt to improve society by addressing counterproductive elements in education...the latter is an overreaction that borders on both censorship and racial bias.

IMO this is a classic example of poor problem solving of specific societal issues on the right and I still think this will compound their problems with minorities needlessly.

At the time he posted the website acts like its down. So duplicate posts happen to folks who think it isn't working but it is just extremely slow. Sometime between 6am and 6.30 EST the website acts weird and you don't think your post is actually posted:)

I am sorry, but most of the stuff they are teaching they should be teaching. How is it any different than the "America always does what is right/Europeans are civilized as opposed to the savages" tripe that most U.S. History courses teach? It isn't racist to teach the truth. (it should be an open elective though not fulfill a requirement) How is their "mythologizing" any different than the how U.S. does it?

I know we all like to have this rosy picture of America and all, but as soon as you stop teaching the warts (most classes flat out ignore the Mexican-American War) and the mistakes (Manifest Destiny) the more you lessen their importance in people's minds. It is important to hear the Chicano perspective to all this, it helps give you a better perspective of how history really was. There is a lot of information that isn't covered and needs to be. To prove my point, a question...when did slavery end in the U.S.A.?

I know nothing of their methods, maybe the class is more than article lets on...but nothing I read makes me think ZOMG THAY ARE DA RACISTS!!!11

You must hate America Handyman because Mexico gave Texas to America for being so awesome, the Indians received everything that the gov't agreed to give them and they always fully understood the fair and just treaties that were being signed and the gov't always made sure that it was the tribe that actually lived on the land they were signing away. The civil war was just a dispute over states rights. Slaves were happy with their lot in life, they sang all the time right? Only Americans died at the Alamo.

blah blah blah, far too much stuff to list.

Manifest Destiny was ordained by God. If you say something bad about it, you must hate the baby Jesus.

Communist!

It's a pretty subtle distinction, I'll admit. American students in American schools are exposed to the American version of these events. In the case at hand, primarily illegal alien students are presented with the "Chicano" version of these events and American citizens get to pay for it. If the Mexican extremists think the American Southwest belongs to them, let them try to take it back. We could arrange another battle of San Jacinto for their enjoyment.

As I say, if the the children of illegals think it's important to study this nonsense let them do so in the Mexican equivalent of Hebrew school. Better yet, let them study it in Mexico.

And all of you reliably anti-American types owe me bigtime for giving you an opportunity to spout your customary anti-American moral equivalency arguments.

Like the punks said at Stanford a few years ago: "hey hey, ho ho, western civ has got to go." Impressive. Inspiring.

Who posted anything "anti-American"?

And why would anyone owe you anything? People do still have the First Amendment, right? Or only one person is allowed to speak their mind, and any opposing viewpoint is not welcome?
