Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

Re: Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

Any guesses on the end of the season awards? (I tried to piece together a list from previous years)

My thoughts

Player of the Year
Kelly Paton, with Micaela Long close behind. Maybe co-players of the year?

Rookie of the Year
Kristina Lavoie

Coach of the Year
Bob Deraney or Brian Durocher (would have said Linstad before her classless outburst when Birchard was laying motionless on the ice)

Three Stars Award
No idea, but im going with Kelly Paton

Sportsmanship Award
No idea but im going with Shannon Sisk because she has been a class act for minimal ice time.

Best Defenseman
Either Courtney Birchard or Cristin Allen

Hockey East Second Team

In this week's HEA release it says she won the most "Three Stars" so you're right about that!

I like your picks for the most part except I might put Kehoe on the 2nd team and Wohlfeiler on the HM. And I don't see Durocher as COY.

Re: Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

Kurth should probably squeeze onto an 'honorable mention' team, imo. Although it's hard to find someone to bump amongst the people you posted.

Well, a tailgating brunch would be good but we will be grillin' prior to the UNH game. :D

Okay. Then I plan on getting there about 10; bacon, eggs, pancakes, and possibly cinnamon buns for those who want breakfast.

Re: Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

Okay, I'll bite! The PC-UNH games was one of the most exciting games I have watched (well, maybe not the first period). Up until the last buzzer, I felt that PC had a chance to tie it up. Credit and congrats to Uconn for hanging on for the win.

I didn't get a chance to watch the UNH/BU game, but it was another "upset" in that neither the first or second seed advanced to the finals. That just further proves the parity that was Hockey East this year.

I did find it interesting that both UNH and PC had byes this past weekend and they both lost in the semifinals today. Not sure if there was any connection or just a coincidence but they may want to look into that.

Re: Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

You have to be freaking kidding me.

As a BC fan, I have zero desire to watch a UConn/BU final.

Yuck.

Well last year both teams with byes won. It's hard to generalize.

But you have a point. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hockey East let everyone into the playoffs in the near future.

Re: Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

Congrads to Melissa Haber for leading her Terriers to the top....I met her after she beat UNH up at the Whitt, when she first was the difference in our game.....Yesterday in the semi's, even though we didn't test her enough, when she needed to, she made the save and was the difference....also congrads to Brian Durocher...he was tough in nets, and now he's done his BU Alum proud

Re: Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

I guess this means that those poll voters who kept voting for BU long after they had any reason for doing so knew their stuff. Congrats to the Terriers on their championship -- a long way from "club".

eh.... yeah. Right result in the end, wrong reasons, I'm sure.

Credit to BU for improving and coming on strong in the end.

Re: Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

With due defedence to tony, I for one am happy for the ladies, who got the job done. I understand his er displeasure over a certain Canadian forward, but I cannot help but feel proud of a great batch of hockey players, a nice group of ladies, and a fantastic and the nicest coach I've ever met. Way to go terriers. Let's make the first tourney trip memorable! Chippity forever!

Re: Hockey East Tourney Thread - 2010

A great win for BU and I will be there for the banner raising in the fall. I think the Terriers are playing their best hockey of the season right now and I wish them success next weekend.

Screened and Deflected: BU's Tara Watchorn walked the puck into the centerpoint area and uncorked a high shot that caromed off a UConn defenseman and past Alexandra Garcia for the game winner.
