Hobart statesmen hockey 22-23

Sweet win tonight by the Statesmen 5-1 over Curry. The Curry goalie scared me until the magic 37 seconds when the boys scored 3 goals. So much for the rust, it looks like rest , Taylor's prep and good old gritty determination and skill got the boys in the Final Four. This is a great looking team, ready to play next weekend...wherever that is.GoBart!

I thought Curry looked good in the first...what did you think Russell?

Agree.

It definitely appeared Hobart was rusty after the two week break. Their timing and passing seemed to be off. But once Hobart got their groove back, Curry didn't stand a chance.

Thanks for the accuracy in reporting, and especially your quotes from the game that made it into the USCHO summary. I was hoping this weekend was going to be in Utica for travel purposes, but the Utica rally fizzled out . The gap between the Utica fan enthusiasm and the team's performance/ ranking was certainly disappointing for their fans and my gas bill this week, although they had one helluva season

Since you attended the Bart game, I assume you were in the press perch behind the benches, which is an awesome place to watch a game, despite all of the criticisms of the Cooler. BTW, the City of Geneva, wants Hobart to take over the rink but has a number of conditions if Hobart agreed to do it. There are unapproved plans to expand the rink shell and build stands into the hill behind the press side of the rink that would increase the seating by at least 1000. If this team can win the tournament, I think there will be ample momentum to get the deal done ....BUT, there will be no counting of any chickens by this Bart fan , as just getting past Endicott on their home ice will be a significant test.

The last and only time Hobart played Endicott was in the Cooler in the NCAA Tournament in 2017, and the Gulls came away with a 4-3 win. Hopefully The Gulls ice will be as friendly to the visiting Statesmen this Friday.

This is interesting because I was going to comment earlier concerning those folks who were calling for a renovation. The rink is owned by the city. But if the school is going to buy it, that changes everything. And we know HWS has some bucks behind them. it will be awhile in any case, but I sure will be keeping an eye on what might be happening to the place. (My vote for biggest improvement is start pumping some darn heat into the place...)

The problem with The Cooler is the lack of sight-lines. It's an awful place to try to see the ice.

Having said that, I'd love to see an Adrian/Hobart final, and I predict that.

About time to see Hobart garner a long-overdue NC, this time in Beverly.

Hopefully you're right and Hobart can earn it this weekend by beating two teams they have never beaten(0-1 against both)

Congratulations to Coach Taylor!

Great energy from the Hobart fans last night as the Statesmen battled the tough and skillful Gulls and came away with the win. The game got pretty chippy at times as Endicott tried to intimidate Damon Beaver, who stayed focused and maintained his 1.0 GAA. Sunday will be interesting as Adrian has a ton of Senior goal scorers that will be defending their title. Hobart has the edge on defending and Adrian is a machine on offense. Hopefully the Statesmen will weather the storm and our goal scorers will take advantage of opportunities. Win it for Coach Taylor!

No doubt on that...I don't think Hobart wants to face that PP any more than they have to.

Place was buzzing last night about that UNE penalty in OT...lots of folks watched that game and then came back in for the second semi. Consensus was UNE got screwed, but I haven't watched the video so I have no idea. Also, lot's of people were saying one the Adrian goals (not sure if they were talking about the OT game winner?) came after a missed offsides call.

BEAT ADRIAN and KRUG. that never would have been a penalty in any game !!

UNE challenged the OT winner on an offsides. On replay, it was clearly legal. The linesmen took mere seconds to decide that.

I feel for UNE. I heard from some WSP parents after their game against Adrian. Suspect calls made there too and they were incensed. Now this happens in the Final Four. You never want an important game to end with this kind of controversy.

I think UNE was trying to challenge for the hit that happened in the UNE Zone along the boards that happened about 15 seconds prior to the game winning goal being scored.

Unsure why they weren’t allowed to challenge the hit.

instead of trying to put a bandaid on an old and antiquated building---why not build a state of the art facility on campus-it seems every school that builds a new rink have all said it was well worth the investment-food for thought
