Hobart statesmen hockey 22-23

Wow what a weekend!!!

Got to see both games...and catch up with a ton of old teammates (and older/younger hockey alumn) while watching two absolutely incredible hockey games. The quality of hockey was jaw dropping.

As the saying goes, if want to be the best you need to beat the best...and I think Hobart did that this weekend. Endicott was a huge challenge...and Adrian was (IMO) the best team Hobart faced all year.

29-2....National Champions. I'm going to have a smile on my face for weeks...this was a long time coming and very well deserved.

PS
Not trying to get ahead of things, but it is worth noting how young this Hobart team is...they will graduate just 2 players from this roster.

Llama,
A great season. Thanks for jumping on the thread this year. I was impressed with how many alumni hockey players/groups were there last weekend. You guys should be very proud for the program. Fingers crossed that Coach Taylor keeps this young group together and focused for a few more years.

No worries - thanks for starting a thread!!

Hopefully a few more people join in on the conversation next season. I think it is safe to say this team caught the attention of a lot of Hobart alumn…and it would appear this program is positioned well to take another run at it next year. Fingers crossed…as the guys now definitely have “the target” placed squarely on their back. As it should be….

29-2…National Champions….still smiling!

Hey just wondering if any have heard from Pierre Maguire since the win, played with his brother at prep school and had a fun visit with him when I went to Bart for a visit,I'm sure he in the loop, nice guy.

I didn’t know Pierre - he was at Hobart before me. He’s called out Hobart (and other D3 schools) on the air here and there…so I’m pretty sure he still keeps tabs on what’s going on. Guessing he finds a way to mention the accomplishment at some point soon.

Not sure what happened with him up in Ottawa…that whole situation seemed weird?

The Hobart Statesmen are back on the practice ice at the Cooler( No , a new rink was not built yet as a shrine to the 2023 Championship :)). Can this team with a Championship under their belt repeat in 2024? The odds are against them with all of the talent at the top of D3, but the key starters are back and Beaver has a year of experience now, plus recruiting even reloads this experienced team. Coach Taylor has the perfect temperament to limit the potential for any heads that may swell from last year's dream season. Hard work , perseverance and some good old fashioned luck will be needed to repeat. GO BART!

Hello Old Friend. Time to start a new thread - I'll give you the honors....

Was just checking out the roster. As I noted at the end of last season, this team graduated a whopping 2 players. Should be in a good spot to make another run at it....but you never know.

The new roster has 6 freshman...I'm no math whiz but I'll just assume coach Taylor had some boys simply too good to pass up...and guys are more interested than ever to come play for him...and will be willing to wait for their spot to open up.

As it has been for a while now, we get Oswego right out of the gate. Can't ask for a better "test" to see if we stack up...'cuz you know Oswego is always going to put a great team on the ice.

Game on. Go 'Bart!!
