Re: HEA Quarterfinals: #7 Providence @ #2 UMass-Lowell
I think we are underestimating one thing that Providence has done extraordinarily well this series and use their size and strength advantage effectively through both games so far in this series. The first and pretty much third periods last night was a testament to that where PC did pretty much anything they wanted. PC was looking for a quick dagger and largely in no small part to Doug Carr, Providence was shunned. The first half of the second period was the best Lowell's played in the entire series.
I can't figure out Alex Beaudry....either he has abysmal games like last weekend, or gives his team a change to win, like this weekend.
Wonder if PC watched the tape of the Merrimack game at Volpe. Harvey's NHL quality shot was a mirror image of Bigos' bomb in that game. Puck was passed off of the dasher and a one timer. Harvey was on the left, Bigos on the right, but same result in the end. Another habit I noticed from Lowell is some continued sloppy play at the attacking blue line. They are getting too cute at times and it almost led to no fewer than three breakaways by my count.
One good thing that Lowell improved last night was face-offs, 41-36, compared to 30-43 the previous night. The overtime I thought was well-played by both teams. I would have love to see the overhead angles on both of the waived off goals to see how and why they were waived off. I had my jacket ready on the PC review because I though that was really close.
It's about time that when a freshman scores his first collegiate goal, it doesn't screw it in the end
Need 5000+ tomorrow afternoon and yes, I'm hoping for 6000. Arguably, this is the most important playoff game since Tully and I hope the continued support and early start encourages people to spend an afternoon in Lowell.
