HEA Quarterfinals: #7 Providence @ #2 UMass-Lowell

Re: HEA Quarterfinals: #7 Providence @ #2 UMass-Lowell

Agreed, it seemed like Lowell didn't win a puck battle all night along the wall, even on the PP. It was such a lackluster effort in the D-Zone too. They are going to need better games from some of the guys who really got them there this year.

Not much to say about this one... here's the goal for tonight...

WIN

No excuses.

No options either. Lowell used up it's only mulligan last night.

Welcome to the playoffs boys, it's win or go home every single night from here on out.

UML wins this one tonight. If UML loses tonight, they are probably one and done in the NCAAs.

Your concerns have been noted, thrown in the trash, and incinerated.

What a game! Amazing how you end up hugging and slapping hands with people you don't even know.

It is me, or does UML lose a lot of face offs against PC? Noticed that over the past couple games.

Crazy, unbelievable game! People stayed until the end which was great to see, the place was loud, student section was phenomenal, Chancellor Meehan bowing to the student section from the Pavilion, lines at the ticket windows after game for Sunday, people leaving very happy.

Kamrass is leading scorer in HE tournament right now 1-3-4.

And the video highlights from Friday night are up...

The part about Meehan is very cool. :)

Can't wait for Sunday....

Re: HEA Quarterfinals: #7 Providence @ #2 UMass-Lowell

I think we are underestimating one thing that Providence has done extraordinarily well this series and use their size and strength advantage effectively through both games so far in this series. The first and pretty much third periods last night was a testament to that where PC did pretty much anything they wanted. PC was looking for a quick dagger and largely in no small part to Doug Carr, Providence was shunned. The first half of the second period was the best Lowell's played in the entire series.

I can't figure out Alex Beaudry....either he has abysmal games like last weekend, or gives his team a change to win, like this weekend.

Wonder if PC watched the tape of the Merrimack game at Volpe. Harvey's NHL quality shot was a mirror image of Bigos' bomb in that game. Puck was passed off of the dasher and a one timer. Harvey was on the left, Bigos on the right, but same result in the end. Another habit I noticed from Lowell is some continued sloppy play at the attacking blue line. They are getting too cute at times and it almost led to no fewer than three breakaways by my count.

One good thing that Lowell improved last night was face-offs, 41-36, compared to 30-43 the previous night. The overtime I thought was well-played by both teams. I would have love to see the overhead angles on both of the waived off goals to see how and why they were waived off. I had my jacket ready on the PC review because I though that was really close.

It's about time that when a freshman scores his first collegiate goal, it doesn't screw it in the end :p ;) :D

Need 5000+ tomorrow afternoon and yes, I'm hoping for 6000. Arguably, this is the most important playoff game since Tully and I hope the continued support and early start encourages people to spend an afternoon in Lowell.

The Hawks need to play like that on Sunday if they hope to advance. Unbelievable game as the Hawks escaped last night with a win. Agree about that review in OT. There were many in my section that thought it would go PC's way. For this Lowell fan it was an exhausting game to watch...I feel like I aged two years last night.

For the folks looking for other HE action to watch on tv today:
UNH @ BU - 4:00 pm (NESN/NHL)
MC @ ME - 7:00 pm (WBIN / FCS)

What was the review about? Was it a shot that hit the post or was it a puck that went in and was disallowed?
