Re: He says he's not dead.

And I will never forget him as Major Pott in What Did You Do In The War Daddy?

He also had a menacing turn as Charles Laughton's evil thug in "The Big Clock." Highly recommended. And the judge in "Inherit the Wind," which should be mandatory viewing.

I recall Jack Webb coming on the Tonight show to promote the new version of Dragnet, and his new partner, Harry Morgan. Jack brought along some outtakes. The setup was they were in the coffee room and Morgan was pouring himself a cup with his back turned to Webb. The first time Harry turned around he was stirring the coffee with his finger. Webb cracked up. The second time Harry was stirring the coffee with his gun. Webb cracked up. The third time Harry was stirring the coffee with his tie. Webb cracked up. The fourth time, Harry was stirring the coffee with a spoon. And Webb fell off his chair.

RIP Colonel Potter.

Long before MASH, Morgan had a second career as Friday's sidekick on Dragnet. His first career was as a character actor in what seemed like about a hundred war movies, where his character was "the amiable drunken PFC."

Just the facts m'am.

Listening to the radio news just a moment ago, "He'll always be remembered for his role as Harry Potter in M*A*S*H..." and they nhe goes on to correct himself. :D

'Aww, horse-hockey!!".

I still recall the first scene in which, "Sherman....Teeee......Potter" was introduced. He's driven into camp only to stop alongside Radar who's eyes are closed, he's topless and sunning himself with a reflector. Potter lays on the horn once or twice before Radar barks, "Stick that horn in your ear". I couldn't find a clip but I found this:
