Re: He says he's not dead.

An original thinker who defied catagorization. He will be missed.
Very, very interesting guy. One of the very few pundits who was actually worth listening to, and one of the even fewer public intellectuals worthy of the name.

Re: He says he's not dead.

Brilliant, insufferable, and obnoxious with an uatched way with words and a razor sharp wit.

He was an *******, but the world did just get a lot dumber.

Re: He says he's not dead.

Havel, Dubcek and Masaryk. Three brave, principled heroes who opposed and ultimately helped destroy European communism. RIP.

Kim Jong Il apparently. Just saw it on msnbc.com no story yet, just the headline

I figured when this finally happened, N. Korea would try something along the lines of WEEKEND AT BERNIE'S before admitting his death...

Re: He says he's not dead.

He looks pretty horrible in the photo CNN has on its front page, so maybe not quite such a shock. Plus, my understanding is that the guy has feasted on gourmet food every night for his whole life while he starved the rest of his country.

By the accounts that weren't controlled by NK, he was not well for a while. All the shadows and mirrors hid/distorted many a thing. And that includes the stories that weren't controlled by NK. It was/is really a "what is real, what is not?" sort of deal.
