Gun control 2 : happy 25th anniversary of Columbine

You would think that a person out on bail would not be allowed to even buy a gun. And to get it same day.

Thanks to all the gun supporters who have prevented checks. Works out well. So good for family values that people can get instruments of murder so very easily, especially when those people have decided to be a threat to others.

What are you, some sort of communist? A person out on bail hasn't been convicted, so it would be a travesty and a violation of due process to deny him the #1 most sacred right in the entire Constitution! This should be true until the last denial of the last appeal, and, come to think of it, even criminals serving jail time should still have the right to possess firearms!

It was the kid's mother. Even being an upper middle class white dude, the circumstances under which I'd call the cops on my own kid are extremely limited. You cannot expect parents to make entirely rational decisions 100% of the time when their kids are involved, and especially if we're at the point law enforcement involvement is a distinct possibility.

I'm with you here. She was faced with her son almost certainly getting killed by cops in a shootout if she called them. I can't even imagine the headspace she was in but you're exactly right. No one is making rational decisions in that situation. The counselor was probably the number she already knew.

That it took. Ten minutes in the phone is kind of insane. But like, they had two cops in the school already and they responded almost immediately from the accounts I've read.

"'No Way To Prevent This,' Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens." strikes again. Madison, Wisconsin, at a private school.

Meanwhile, NY State lawmakers contemplate providing a high speed 911 system only for CEOs and VIPs. Also announced that Kathy Hotchul has met with 175 CEOs in NY and provided funding for their therapy since the UnitedHealth CEO shooting.

No word if the private school in Madison will pony up for therapy for their students.

And MAGAts already trying to float that the shooter is trans. Police have said the shooter is a student and female.

I was kind of wondering what the twist was gonna be since this sounds like it's a small, super religious school (so kids are likely super sheltered). It's a place where you wouldn't expect your typical "Jocks vs Nerd/Weird Kids" type of bullying.

This sounds like it is the kind of school where super religious lifestyles would be kinda common and accepted as "normal". Wonder if the kid escaped the bubble somehow and realized the harm that was inflicted upon them.

Adams is worse. But I get your point.

It's interesting to watch how Hochul has gone about getting her progressive agendas into place versus how Whitmer has done it in MI. Whitmer has done it the right way. Hochul ... not so much. (I'm not talking about whether anyone agrees or disagrees with their policies. I'm just talking about how they've gone about doing it.)

she only beat freaking Lee Zeldim by a point and a half. If the GOP ran anyone competent she’d be toast. She needs to step aside next cycle for Letitia James or Antonio Delgado.
