Gun control 2 : happy 25th anniversary of Columbine

If you shoot up school on the first day, kids hadn’t had a chance yet to practice school shooting drills. Brilliant

drew, I hope you’re out celebrating another landmark day for the US

Everything I am seeing says school had been in session since August 1. Not that it changes anything as we shouldn't be a country where school shooting drills are even necessary.

This is what they want. More homeschooling...

Thankfully I work for an online school to make sure kids at home can still get a real education. I doubt GA cares about that.

Two SROs responded drawing weapons and he walked out of the school in cuffs after shooting 13 people.

Definitely white.

My wife was just now talking about home schooling our daughter. There is one all girls school in the state. Statistically speaking, it might be the safest option after home schooling.

I don’t want a daughter who’s even more socially awkward than I am.

I am sure he has a history of "mental problems" that no one dealt with because he didn't have them they just need to make up an excuse for why a good White Christian Boy would do this. If he was Black or Brown he would be a thug with ties to illegal gangs and probably illegal!!1!1"

Allowed to surrender...so taxpayers can keep him alive for 70 years. I won't lie, I am glad they are charging him as an adult because he called in the threat first, he knew what he was doing and he knew it was wrong.

As I asked in the States thread, where was a good guy with a gun? Not one of them? In Georgia?!

Our well-regulated militia sucks.

I am sure you will hear that the SRO's at the High School fit that description. The Gun Nuts think 4 people dead and 9 injured is an acceptable loss in any scenario.

It's a choice for there be no laws against a 14 year old walking around with an AR-15 until they've shot someone, just like it was a choice for the nearest urgent care for gunshot wounds to be 90 minutes away. It's still very red at the state and local level.

Exactly. I saw people on Social Media saying "The people of Georgia deserve better from their politicians" and I responded "yet they keep voting for these people". For better or for worse this is what they voted for...and they will again. Brian Kemp takes pride in having lax gun laws as does pretty much every GOPer that never has to worry about re-election. How many parents at that school vote GOP?

The majority of GA voters gave up the right to be shocked and saddened by events like this. Just like joe and drew can’t be sad, even though they pretend to be “moral” and “for family values”. They all prioritize the raw ability for people to get instruments of murder over everything else other than maybe abortion. Which is so ironic- save the babies so that they can grow up a shoot each other.

It is quite amazing how you can have a shooting at a High School where two students, and two teachers are murdered and at the same time you can honestly say, that's what I voted for.

They will deny it, and never make the obvious connection between gun rights and school shooting. Well, except they are coming for my guns now.

Seeing reports that the father of the shooter told authorities he bought the gun for his son as a present in Dec 2023. This was after the shooter had been questioned by authorities over threats he allegedly made earlier in the year. Some top notch parenting there. Throw his ass in jail right next to his kid.

So the first gun that kid ever owned was a AR-15?

You know, if teenage mass murderers could just kill their enabling parents before turning the gun on themselves in some mongrelized Murica' Seppuku code, we could be Australia in 20 years. Pity.

Georgia has no laws where the parents could be held responsible. They have no gun lock up laws, no red flag, nothing. There is nothing the prosecutors can charge them with.
