Yet, if you look at the U.S. tour’s title sponsors, a majority have business relations with Saudi Arabia, and/or footprints inside the Kingdom.

In fact, the PGA Tour’s big-money postseason – the three-tournament series – is entirely title-sponsored by brands with a presence in the Kingdom.

And even if we leave the Saudis aside, is it morally and ethically wonderful that we're watching a league with ties to Goldman Sachs, Citi, and HSBC?

I watch F1 and they are in bed with 98% of the world's scum. The attack on LIV's sportwashing is just hypocrisy because that's what every sociopathic corporation on Earth does.

We're prisoners inside a capitalist hellscape. It's monsters in every direction and no way to avoid them.
 
Thanks, but I guess I'll watch the least bonesawy league when given the choice. It's not hypocrisy, it's choosing the least evil option. No one is saying the PGA is cruelty free.
 
I hope the LIV golfers playing in Sterling this weekend understand the importance of this holiday and what it means for fallen soldiers. Each player should spend a little time this weekend in front of the plaque at the course and ponder what it was like for the thousands of Civil War who died there, causing the Potomac to run red with their blood.

? AFAIK there is no Civil War battlefield in Sterling. I live here.

Doesn't that just mean everything goes back to what it was before this year starting next year? I assume the Saudis get some payoff.
 
Sounds like the Saudis become a top level sponsor so they are going to be throwing money at it. Apparently will finish out the 2023 seasons before officially merging. LIV golfers of course are happy (though I suspect that the Saudis were seeking this deal more because LIV was not growing and was actually losing a lot of money and would have folded eventually). Wonder if it will mean some of the guys who got huge signing bonuses will still get them as I heard some of that money was being spread out. Hearing that many PGA players are not pleased at all. They are feeling even more betrayed after staying loyal and in addition, we're not in the loop at all that there were even discussions of this merger with DP and LIV. Apparently some team events will be incorporated into this new merger. Not sure what else but it sounds like it won't be exactly like it was before. Probably some changes to FedEx cup, OWGR, Presidents/Ryder cup standings, etc. as well.

Got to say I hate it. Even before LIV came to be, I had been watching less and less golf (part of an overall trend of watching and following sports less) but this will make it even harder to do so. Phil Mickelson, who had become an absolutely unbearable clown of a person, will be even worse somehow.
