Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Man, did we kick azz on predictions or what? That'll teach you to mess with the pros, you mangy Trappists. Back to Chestnut Hill with ya.

I admit I am currently 9-5 vs the spread this week in NFL games (and I did make it through bc admissions too! So that is probably not a coincidence) ;)

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

As for last night it was only done in direct response to BC fans chanting "BU Sucks" was only done twice, got a ridiculous number of nearby BC fans to put their tail between their legs...
Boy, I know that if *I* were in the student section and BU fans were chanting "BC swallows" that would sure make me "put my tail between my legs." You're an idiot.
and if alums are taking pictures and videos of opposing students during a blowout...
whambulance.jpg

...then students chanting swallows was far from the most immature thing this weekend.
Totally.

I hope you enjoyed the pasting BC handed you guys this weekend. I'm not sure what was more satisfying - watching the cows in scarlet and white scowl for 2 and a half periods while BC took a steaming dump on them in their own house, or completing the sweep and having that superior feeling that only comes from being completely, 100% correct about something you had been calling for over a month.

You just really don't understand how much of an immature tool you are, do you?

Well I'm assuming you're not the type of fan who yells "F#ck BU", Loves to chant "Whats the matter with BU? BU Sucks", tries to start a "sucks to BU" chant every three minutes, to mock our oles joins in with us (still confused by that one), chants "BU sucks" repeatedly for most of the game, and leaves early while chanting "Hey hey hey goodbye". In which case you weren't like the nearby BC fans and would have had a different reaction. Doesn't changed what happened.

You know what's probably the most awesome part of this video? The very end of the video, I unfortunately ended it too early, but you hear the beginning of what became a very loud "BC Sucks! BC Sucks!" to the tune of their usual post-we-just-got-tooled-on-and-gave-up-a-goal "Go BU! Go BU!"

What a satisfying weekend.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Here we go, right out of the fanboys playbook:

Section 2.1.c - When Jerry York's boys drop a cleveland steamer on Jack Parker, claim to have the better fans by virtue of wearing more jerseys, having more fans from our larger school show up to the one pony from our one-trick pony athletic department (if applicable), or coming up with much more clever cheers even though they are all stupid anyway. Do this by posting things on the interwebs such "our fans are the best eva ZOMG" or "BU fans are still better than BC's ool."

How many times did we score on Friday?

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

it is quite ironic how the fan battles are always waged by the inferior team. actually no, no its not ironic at all.

i do miss hotdog, though; he could come here and tell us how it was loudest in his section. or if quiddich was still alive, he could list the many atrocities committed by BC fans

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

here we go, right out of the fanboys playbook:

Section 2.1.c - one bu fan asks if he heard a bu chant right because if he did he is disappointed in the students who chanted, another bu fan says yes you did but explains his side of the story. A bc fan gets twitterpated says hes not sure if it's more fun to watch his team win or make a correct prediction, posts a video, then says that bu fans got "very loud" which, while not a compliment, was more positive than anything bu fans said about themselves during the conversation

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

i guess quiddlet is too gutless to show up here, but i'm dying to ask if he thought the real super frauds were the 20 guys in red and white tonight.

you are right. i forgot that quiddich is a regular deuce bigalow... still a no show though, did he forget the safe word?

i do miss hotdog, though; he could come here and tell us how it was loudest in his section. or if quiddich was still alive, he could list the many atrocities committed by BC fans

Aw... Steve... if you'd told me earlier how much you cared I would have come running home to USCHO after the game!

Didn't realize an experienced USCHO member would get worked up over a joking thread title... Clearly BU couldn't skate with BC this weekend, even someone who understands hockey as poorly as I do can see that... if that makes them frauds then they certainly were SUPER at doing it. Though I'd list the USCHO pole voters up there with them as far as fraud is concerned. We all knew BU was overrated (though maybe not THAT overrated...).

I don't have any problems with people taking pictures and videos of an opposing fan section during the game... have plenty of the NU section from the consolation game at last year's Beanpot and penalty shots are definitely a good time to take a video since you know something is going to happen either way.

Now sorry, Steve, I know this time has been precious but I have to get to sleep. I have you... you know... that whole life / school thing to pay attention to.

Just curious what you're confused about. I personally associate the ole chant with the Montreal Canadiens and find it extremely gay. So the fact BC students mocked that because BU students do it, that's probably one of the few clever things the BC students did.

That's reason 1b, reason 1a is that "ole" is traditionally something said while a team is on offense (specifically in soccer) and BU's student section chants it on the PK. Ergo, it's rather dumb.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Sorry other people in the thread, I've been carrying on in this irrelevant conversation for too long, this will be my last post on the subject (whatever the subject is at this point).

I was unaware of any Canadiens connection, and judging by this student's hockey knowledge he would be as well. And even if I knew that, and was a BC fan, I'd probably make a comment about it rather than joining in with the opposing fans. But to each his own.

I didn't realize teams went on "offense" in soccer, or that a chant that lasts for minutes on end stops abruptly when the team goes on "defense."

My goodness, this is like pulling teeth.

In soccer "ole" isn't chanted. It's just "ole!" whenever a team has had possession for a while and is passing it a lot to play keepaway.

Someone wanted to know why, and I answered. Hope you enjoyed your weekend.

Pretty sure it's a chant. Youtube would disagree with your interjection theory.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

While we're on the subject of fans, one of the things that really bothers me about the BU student section is that they start screaming at the most random times in a game. I can understand cheering on a breakaway, on a good defensive play, on a nice save, etc. but sometimes the cheering from their student section just seems to be random. For example, I remember one play in either the 2nd or 3rd on Friday when the BU fans started screaming like they scored a goal as a puck was headed down ice for an icing call...against BU! (and it wasn't like it was a good icing that ended a BC onslaught either) Going to a school where hockey is by far the #1 sport on campus, shouldn't the students at least know a little bit about hockey, like, I don't know, when to cheer? They also seem to squeal loudly everytime one of their players touches the puck...which gets annoying considering how many times it happens in a game. It doesn't exactly help that much-maligned "fanboy" title that people give BU students. I will give them credit though, the student section was 95% full even at the end of the game. I went to UMass last year and half the student section was gone after we took a 4-0 lead into the first intermission. I'm not even sure the BC student section would still be that full after giving up 8 or 9 goals at home to BU...

I also agree that the BC student section chants "BU Sucks/Sucks to BU" way too much during games against BU. I blame the freshmen and the people who only show up to games against BU. Also didn't like the "Safety School" chant in the 1st period...that's something you bust out at the end of a lopsided game. Overall though, I was very happy with the student turnout and the enthusiasm out of the student section on Saturday.

Outsider, but...

Yea, I just hate when my team's fans cheer too much.:confused::confused:

I'm going to venture a guess that your description of the cheer enthusiasm is exagerated, or, something else happened in the crowd to prompt a cheer. I know in my student days at Maine, a good goalie razzing 1 liner could get a nice, sudden roar or laugh from the students --- even though other parts of the arena may not have heard it or known why.

Sticking it out regardless of the score (for better or worse) is usually a sign of some pretty devoted fans. The casual fans are the ones who leave.

Who micro-critiques others so badly that they decide when others should show support for their team, anyway?

I went to Agganis last year and Maine got **** stomped, but I still had a GREAT time. The paid fans were proud, but respectful of visiting. The student section was with-it and entertaining. The band was great.

BU fans don't wear peacoats and scarves to hockey games.... and you're calling them out of touch. ;)

I also agree that the BC student section chants "BU Sucks/Sucks to BU" way too much during games against BU.

Yea, they should really save some of those for Vermont...

I blame the freshmen and the people who only show up to games against BU.

Because they're the ones who usually start chants and cheers.

What do personal academics have to do with your hockey team winning or losing?

You sound it! :D

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Hmm now I'm not sure, but it had that feel. Possibly because of how the game went and how good the BC crowd was early and often. I know BU had that one full section in the upper deck, but it just didn't look/feel like their normal representation. But maybe the credit just has to go to the BC fans.

i think there were more BU fans last year as well and the crowd was indeed awesome................hasn't been that loud since, well, the last time BU was there ;). the crowd in the third period of that game last january was the loudest in my 5 years having season tickets. when ,i think it was Krieder tied it, the noise was deafening , at least for Conte :)
