Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

"We’ll be ready to go when it comes Beanpot time and playoff Hockey East. Right now, they can have these wins."

That's certainly not out of context...it's exactly what he meant. Maybe FL should ask Joe if BU was ready come Beanpot time last year and in the Garden against Maine...

I don't care how you slice it, saying "right now they can have these wins " is stupid.

I agree completely. Stupid quote and in context. Seeing the fanboy defend the stupid quotes makes it all the funnier. I hope he's not expecting BU to lose 5 games to BC and then turn around and beat them in the regionals like BC did to BU in 2006.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Since it's not really necessary to pile on BU (I think everyone's pretty well aware they were overrated), I figured I'd say something nice.

I thought this weekend demonstrated how good a tactical coach Parker is, not that anyone doubted it. But he made a few in-game decisions that both worked out well. Pulling the goalie on the power play halfway through the third was a good call - why not? - and it worked out, leading to a much more even finish than I would have liked. And the timeout on Saturday after BC went up 3-1 prevented the game from getting completely out of hand, something that BC is able to do to teams quite often.

In addition, BU, as claver2010 mentioned, does a good job of getting into the dirty areas, crashing the net, etc. They play hard. Their freshmen are still a year or two away from being the basis for a Frozen Four-type team, though.

you had 4 losses to us in a row that year, you won game one at conte when curry tried to play basketball and rebound a flying puck.

Just out of curiosity, do you make an effort to be this stupid or does it come naturally? If you honestly think Pereira was saying they let BC win or they didn't care about these games, God help you.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

That's what he said, right? It's not too hard to figure it out unless English is your 2nd language (or 3rd or 4th).

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Jesus H Christ. I read the whole thing you buffoon. It's still a stupid thing to say. I don't care if he's saying 10 Hail Marys before and after.

We'll just agree to disagree since it's clear you're going to defend your pal until the very end.

Carmine, just my 2 cents and not to defend these BU people, but I dont think they know who "Jesus H Christ" is. You should find another person to use there. :)

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

That was the least amount of fans from BU I've seen at BC in a while.

Really, I thought there were substantially more than last January, although maybe I was too close to the trees to see the forest?

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

That's the entire quote. That line came in the middle of that whole quote. To me, that quote (the entire quote) is not stupid. If you want to go ahead and pick out that one line, by all means. I'm not arguing he didn't say it. But when you give full context, I don't see how it's stupid. He also said this a little earlier in that same interview:

I'm starting to wonder if you understand what taking something out of context means. What Steve did is not taking something out of context. Pereira meant exactly what he said. I personally don't care about whatever else he said. That one particular line was not taken out of context. You might not think it's stupid (shocker), but some do.

Meh, I guess. I mean, he admitted the game was over in the 3rd on Friday. I know it ultimately worked, but I was definitely surprised to see him pull the goalie. Perhaps the adjustments should have come before that point in the game ;)

Definitely a good timeout to take yesterday as it was probably the most adversity his team has faced all season to this point. On their heels after getting smoked the night before and then down 3-1 in a hostile environment (we don't get to say that too often at Conte).

As for BU crashing the net, I was expecting a penalty on Pereira when he slashed Muse in the pads during his goal...where was the call??? Should have been a good goal AND a penalty on Pereira :p

Hmm now I'm not sure, but it had that feel. Possibly because of how the game went and how good the BC crowd was early and often. I know BU had that one full section in the upper deck, but it just didn't look/feel like their normal representation. But maybe the credit just has to go to the BC fans.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Just watched the 2nd period...

-Nice play by Samuelsson to break up a rush from Megan, but Megan also picked his pocket later on, but couldn't do much with the puck after that.

-It indeed was another Warsofsky turnover that led to BC's 2nd goal. Had a chance to clear the puck, but gave it away...looked like Millan might have been screened by Ruikka.

-Steven Whitney: everyone knows he's a great stick handler, but at some point, you gotta make plays. Maybe the DQ against Merrimack woke him up. A great shot to beat Millan and another off the pipe. Shoot the puck more!

-Hayes also rang one off the post early in the 2nd...things could have gotten out of hand again with a couple bounces there.

-One thing I noticed (and I have no idea whose call this is), but a lot of BC guys wear the clear shields where as almost all the BU players have cages. Does any BU player sport a clear shield?

-2nd BU goal: In line with what Joe was saying about crashing the net...

Nobody could quite eliminate their man, Muse couldn't cover up, BU stuck with it and ultimately Pereira beat Mullane to the puck. Good response after the timeout.

-Kreider goal: looked to me like there was some miscommunication between Warsofsky and Nicastro. Watching it in slo-mo, I thought even though Warsofsky couldn't get to the puck that he still had a good angle on Kreider provided Nicastro play it safe and drop back. Instead, Nicastro made a bad pinch and it was all over from there.

-That particular PK was simply dominating from BC including some great work from Bill Arnold

-Thought BU got away with too many men a couple times last night...

-Great defensive play by Paul Carey getting his stick in the passing lane on a BU rush, right before their goaltender interference penalty.

-Some big saves for Muse right before the Alber "penalty". Ridiculous that #8 for BU (Rosen?) didn't get the initial penalty on that play for his cheap hit from behind on Steve Whitney

Some thoughts on the 2nd as well:
BU got away with too many men at least 3 times last night, several times it was painfully obvious.

The penalty on Alber was comical too, I thought it was 8 (maybe 7) that just blatantly cross checked Whitney from behind after the whistle and Alber gets the penalty?

Outside of the complete domination the substory was just how terrible the officiating was this weekend, 21-11 in powerplays and Parker still spent minutes alone barking at the officials.

Agreed, we hit a ton of posts early that could have made this even more out of hand.

Muse, while not in the complete zone he was so far this season, made some big saves this weekend.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

mookie, you have it all wrong. re-watching the game on DVR when you have the chance to go back and really evaluate what happened is the antithesis of what the typical dancing, face painting, BC sucks chanting fanboy would do :D

3rd period:

-Thought BU played pretty well despite Santana's dive to draw a penalty ;)

-Maybe FL would know this, anything behind Warsofsky's moustache? I know the Bruins/NHL were sporting them in November for men's health awareness?

-Muse again made some quality saves

-Great play by Jimmy Hayes to get his stick in the passing lane, break up the PP and send Whitney on his way. Hayes continues to be a monster killing penalties.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Not sure what the deal with Warsofsky's mustache is. Definitely a fan, though (yeah yeah yeah, insert fanboy joke here).

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

.....BC sucks chanting fanboy would do :D

Interesting comment, given that more than 3/4s of all the chants last night from BC fans was BU sucks or Sux 2 BU. Also, the student fans that sit on the sides - are those the ones not worthy enough to sit behind either goal Or just late? Is that all GA or assigned seating? I thought the fans behind the goals did a much better job than the ones sitting on the side up high. Especially the ones that acted all UNH-y and gave the BU fans the finger when BU fans actually cheered for their school instead of against the team they were playing. Hey Onion Man, remember when you weren't a Brown fan and you and I agreed how ridiculous it was about how the UNH fans would do this to opposing teams' fans?? I suppose now it's fine to do. Times...they do change!

--easy. original jd seems to have been hired on Jerry's staff and is watching tape of the games this weekend and writing up an evaluation. he'll get back to you later.

--i almost felt bad for OM, seeing how he commented that leaving conte last night he had to hear classless fans from the visiting team chant something about priest's body parts. i thought if he was there with his kid that it was awful. then he posted his 'bread line' comment and i remembered not to feel bad for him.

I thought it was hilarious that Nieto scored during a loud, loud "Safety school" chant. Boy did the BC crowd quiet down after that (at least for a few minutes).
