Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

I'm going to venture a guess that your description of the cheer enthusiasm is exagerated, or, something else happened in the crowd to prompt a cheer. I know in my student days at Maine, a good goalie razzing 1 liner could get a nice, sudden roar or laugh from the students --- even though other parts of the arena may not have heard it or known why.

He's actually 100 percent accurate on his description, though the way the puck was cleared, it looked for like, 1/1000th of a second that BU could end up with a breakaway or at least an odd-man rush. Still, the play didn't warrant the amount of noise it generated. I'm not sure it really reflects that poorly on the fans*–– as you said, can't criticize for cheering too much –– but yeah, it was a funny moment to be listening to the fans.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

What a BU-tiful weekend!! Talk about men vs. boys in these games. BC clearly showed BU that they are not ready for the prime time. BU does have some promising freshmen in Coyle and Nieto, but Clendening looked lost.

BC's speed kills. Good to see Kreider rise as usual in a big game.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

While we're on the subject of fans, one of the things that really bothers me about the BU student section is that they start screaming at the most random times in a game.

It's comical the amount of high pitched screaming at Agganis when it's 1 on 4 crossing the redline makes it sound like a women's basketball game at Conte when they show "It's Noise Time!"

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

Were the BU fans chanting "BC swallows" last night? Or did I totally hear something wrong? It happened a few times. I thought I was at UMass. Not something I've ever heard from a whole section of BU fans before (obviously there have been cases of 1 or 2 idiots starting something like that).

Yes, BU fans did chant that. I didn't think it was vulgar, I just thought it lacked creativity.

If you think Agganis is bad, you should catch a game at the Whit or Alfond.

I agree with you on that one, especially the Whitt. I remember a few years ago when Eddie Caron played there, everytime he got the puck everyone screamed "Eddie!!!!", you know, before he fumbled it at the blue line. :)

As opposed to Snotty Forum where you metrosexuals in your stupahfan shirts are wicked ****ah. The fans at UNH don't care enough to make noise anymore, get with the program ;)

Oh definitely at the Whitt. At least Maine fans know enough when a good opportunity is coming through the neutral zone. At Lake Whitt, we're talking about 1 guy racing to the red line to dump it in to change lines while the rest of the team changes and the hillbillies in Durham start to stand up and scream like their favorite NASCAR driver just walked onto the ice.

Sorry, I know the hillbillies are going to show up and start defending themselves now... should make this thread interesting at least.

Jeez you'd think they'd know better than to get excited when Whistling Dick chimes in ;)

The atmosphere at Conte on Saturday was better than any game I've ever been at UNH, and I've been to a lot there.

I'm curious if this worked for anyone or if they tried it? Terrier 520?

No luck for me. Then again, I was using firefox on a mac (thinking of going over to chrome), so it might have been a browser issue. Friday, I saw the game at a bar, and tried to tune in Saturday, tried once, then checked the score and decided it wasn't worth my frustration. Congrats on a big weekend.

a lot of BC games at the Whitt?
I've been to a lot of games at Conte and none have come close to the better days at UNH. But those were UNH games.

Obviously Bu/BC and UNH/Maine games are going to be electric....

The atmosphere at the whitt isn't what it was a decade ago thanks to general indifference

I think what he's saying is this particular BC/BU game. Anyway, if BC could get that type of crowd more often, they'll be very hard to beat at home.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

My goodness, this is like pulling teeth.

In soccer "ole" isn't chanted. It's just "ole!" whenever a team has had possession for a while and is passing it a lot to play keepaway.

Someone wanted to know why, and I answered. Hope you enjoyed your weekend.

you better tell these fans theyre doing it wrong, not a single pass was made during this clip:rolleyes:

Always trust BU fans when it comes to soccer and other girlie/Euro things.

I applaud the BC fan for not knowing this.

Nevermind that the two head BC student fans on here, including that guy, lead efforts to infuse some soccer-ish cheers into their student section last year, and through mutual friends, I understand are fairly big soccer fans themselves. But those are facts, they don't matter.

Re: Fanboys and Superfrauds, 251st and 252nd Edition (12/3, 12/4)

 Why is that? I thought the idea of a crowd helping its team was just a fanboy fantasy. :p

Ha, I certainly never said that. It's just different seeing that type of atmosphere at Conte. Brought me back to the late 90s/early 2000s. And please, the last think we need to do is to get into fanboy fantasies...
