You know, the standards for being the head "Illinois Nazi" are extremely high. Turns out Frank Collin's real name is Cohen, and there's evidence he may have been concieved in Dachau! Some Jewish zealots later convicted him on trumped up charges of having sex with two 10 year old boys, for which he served three years in the slammer. "I hate Illinois Nazis."

Saw the results of a Gallup poll on TV yesterday.

# 1 problem: Job creation
# 2 problem: corruption in government
# 3 problem: reducing the federal deficit

# 12 problem: increasing tax rates on the wealthy
(there were 12 problems listed)

Mittens needs a double dip recession or he's toast. Simply put, people don't like the guy. The more they see and find out, the less they do. He's the most unliked nominee in recent history, most likely since Nixon who was elected President a whopping forty four years ago!

Worse, despite being down only a few points in national polling, he's getting killed in the electoral college. A Republican nominee can't be fighting for his life in North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida and losing in Republican sponsored polls in Ohio and win an election. There's just not enough swing states out there for him to make up the difference unless he plans on winning California. Mittens needs to take every southern state off the board as well as neighboring NH and then be slugging it out in the Southwest (NV, CO and NM, three states he's losing badly in) and the Rust Belt (OH, PA) given that Obama only needs about 40 electoral votes to reach 270 out of the swing states. Until Mittens starts pulling ahead in these places or Democrats think election day has been moved to Wednesday he's in trouble. (Now cue some knuckledragger quoting how Reagan was losing to Carter at this time, an election held 32 long years ago and assuming Mittens = Reagan).

Regarding gay marriage, public is in favor. Those not in favor are already in Mittens camp. This can't hurt the campaign but has the potential to help.

Romney went to 3 countries and managed to **** off people in 2 of them. That's a .666 batting average. He's definite White House material.

On the theory that if you fail 2 out of 3 times in baseball you're in the Hall of Fame, then yes, he is. :)

I just don't think he "gets it" when it comes to foreign policy and international relations. When you go on these trips you're in diplomatic mode, not say stuff that gets you on the front page mode. It's as if Paris Hilton took this trip thinking any publicity is good publicity. Pretty embarrassing.

Wouldn't have it any other way. These things fester when they're left to grow in the dark. I'd much prefer they march in the daylight, allowing us to gauge how much of a problem they are, and of course allowing people to counter-march, protest, and shame them.

The vast majority of people are not bad eggs and they know right from wrong. I'd rather fight the bigots in the open.

Regarding the cake thing, while a minor issue that doesn't deserve the press its getting, I would say the bakery has the right to refuse to write certain things on the cake, but should sell them a plain cake and whatever they want to write on it, or put two groom figures on top of it afterwards, is up to them. Much like I'd support a bakery not putting an offensive symbol (a swastika, swear words or something vulgar) if they didn't want to. However, a Jewish bakery can't refuse to sell to anyone with a German sounding last name for example, nor can you refuse to sell a cake to an interracial couple.

As Romney was walking away from Pilsudski Square toward his vehicle, reporters asked him about his string of gaffes and whether he had any comment for Palestinians, some of whom took offense at the Republican’s suggestion Monday in Jerusalem that Israel’s economy is superior because of cultural advantages Israelis enjoy. Romney ignored the questions and got in his car.

But his traveling press secretary was furious.

“Kiss my ***; this is a holy site for the Polish people,” said aide Rick Gorka. “Show some respect.”

Gorka then told a reporter to “shove it.”

Gorka subsequently called a pair of reporters to apologize, saying he lost his cool.

“It was inappropriate,” Gorka said.

And just how many American voters will decide their presidential preference based on p*ssing off the Palestinians? Some Democrats, including His Transcriptlessness, for sure. Mitt is siding with Israel. That's a good thing. Somebody quoted Abba Eban this morning: "The Arabs never miss an opportunity, to miss an opportunity." Screw the so-called Palestinians. I've had them and their b*tching right up to here. And screw any American who wants to put in with those murderous thugs.
