Elections 2012 -- Kull Wahad!!!

Re: Elections 2012 -- Kull Wahad!!!

Well, then, if the quote was actually about "infrastructure" (as I think it was), then how is Ball Office Product's SBA loan and government contracts relevant at all?

Because it seems odd that these companies epitomize the infrastructure story yet are so much against...what...infrastructure? Obama for other reasons? Not really sure.

Because false charges should be countered and refuted on general principles?

In the end, this is it. How can we be an effective democracy or make successful decisions at all if we can't get our facts straight.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Kull Wahad!!!

Apparently Romney's over in Great Britain today flubbing what is essentially the practice round of US foreign diplomacy. Next is Poland and Israel. He'll probably tell Polish and Jewish jokes.

Neither can we make successful decisions if the wrong ones are all someone else's fault! In that case, there is no learning, no growth, and so unsuccessful decisions continue to be made. :(

Wasn't that fantastic?

NBC_News: Mr. Romney, what do you think of London's hosting of the Olympics?
Mr. Romney: They're doing it wrong.

God, that man's an idiot. Good choice, GOP.

"We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world," Cameron said. "Of course it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere."

Re: Elections 2012 -- Kull Wahad!!!

Someone wrote what I've been trying to communicate about this "you didn't build that" brouhaha:

The basic substantive problem with the Lakoff-Obama argument is that it blurs the distinction between an uncontroversial proposition (government is necessary) and a highly disputed one (government of its current size and scope is necessary and may even be insufficient). The ability to blur such distinction is a useful skill for a politician; the best way to accomplish something controversial is to persuade people you're doing something uncontroversial. [bold added]

I like how he works in Isaac Newton's quote: "If I can see further than others, it is only because I stand on the shoulders of giants."

Some people are getting silly. Without taxpayers, there is no government. Without private industry, there are no taxpayers. (I'm talking about the US system here; you could try to argue that one could have a system in which government owns everything and no person owns anything....try arguing that a person doesn't even own the clothes s/he happens currently to be wearing [if any] and see how well that is received!)

The only way you can try to argue that "government" takes precedence is if you say "mom and dad are the 'first' government, 'ruling' over their children."

Otherwise, fire, domesticated animals, the wheel, stone and bone tools, all take precedence over the first goverment. Some sociologists argure that it was the development of agriculture that made "government" possible; before then we merely had extended family groups. Perhaps some early tribal government started before agriculture, I don't know.

As I noted earlier, what we need is symbiosis; what Obama and his minions seem to want is dominance instead.

He added that the interbreeding likely occurred 20,000 to 50,000 years ago, long after some modern humans had walked out of Africa to colonize Asia and Europe, and around the same time Neanderthals were waning in Europe.

Akey said that present-day Europeans show no evidence of the foreign DNA, meaning the mystery people were likely confined to Africa.

Oh God, I can just hear the theories, now... :(

OTOH, turns out lions and tigers can bang each other. Huh.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Kull Wahad!!!

There was a new video clip from Obama's now-famous July 13 address in Roanoke, VA.

Apparently they had a close-up of one of his aides, and a lip-reader claims you can see him mouthing "I didn't write that." ;)

You seem shocked by this, the guy is a freakin' dolt.

His comeback to Brian Williams was pretty good though

First you complain when he lies, then for once he's honest and you complain about that. Poor guy can't win. :p

Most "dolts" are unable to earn a JD and an MBA simultaneously at Harvard (with a nearly 4.0 GPA, IIRC). And unlike His Youhadhelpness, Mitt's grades aren't state secrets.

Besides, Romney does have one pretty significant Olympic credential on his CV. His deCoubertinness, on the other hand, brought his over-inflated reputation to bear in lobbying personally for Chicago, and the IOC gave him a fast five across the chops.
