The Daily Show has found the video and displayed it that shows Mitt Romney saying exactly the same things. He's flip-flopped on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE that exists.

There has not been a Romney attack on Obama over the last 2 months that wasn't refuted or exposed as hypocritical within at most 12 hours. That shows both (1) it has become impossible to lie with impunity on the campaign trail in the internet age, and (2) the Romney campaign is particularly sloppy and mendacious.

Nothing beats Palin's strategy of simply lying whenever she felt like it on the theory that more people would hear and believe the lie than ever hear or comprehend the refutation, but on a Palin 10-point scale Romney is a solid 7.

The economy?
Jobs?
The deficit? (and don't tell me supply side works, it didn't the two times it was tried under Reagan and Bush II)
Syria? Invade?
Iran? Invade?

I'm not sure what Romney's position is on any hard policy.

"Preserve & protect right to choose"
"Oppose Roe v Wade, but won’t tamper with abortion laws"
or
"Would be delighted to sign federal ban on all abortions"

Is it:
"I'll be better than Ted Kennedy" on gay rights"
or
"Put gay marriage ban into GOP party platform"

Is it:
"My positions won't make me the hero of the NRA"
On batman shooter Holmes "this person shouldn't have had any kind of these weapons." Note all guns were purchases legal.
or
"Don't change gun laws"

Is it:
For Romneycare
or
Against Obamacare

Is it:
"Climate change is occurring, with SOME human contribution"

Not

Is it:
"Put campaign spending limits and the abolition of PACs"

yes, an underwhelming choice. you can criticize Romney all you want, that doesn't make Obama look any better.

Others can criticize Obama all they want, that doesn't make Romney look any better.

My hunch is that Romney is biding his time, waiting for the convention, and only then will he step forward and say what he stands for (now...)

So far Romney has only told us what he is not. That will have to change if he is going to win.

Whatever position Romney says he has now there is video showing him of the exact opposite position. So, in my mind his positions are irrelevant to the discussion. His entire candidacy is based on being the other choice. People are going to vote for Obama or against Obama. Anyone who actually says they're voting for Romney is a fool.

Progressive income tax rates have been widely and generally accepted by most people for a long time, and I haven't heard anyone suggest otherwise.

Lower rates across the board in exchange for an elimination of most deductions exemptions credits etc. make better economic sense and rids us of a persistent source of pernicious corruption.


I find it annoying that Dems say they want to increase taxes on "the rich" while in practice they insert all sorts of subtle provisions providing the "right" well-connected "rich" with narrowly-targeted special-interest deductions.

and yes I've given specific examples before, you don't have to look very far (remember "cash for clunkers," "first-time home-buyer credit," "affordable housing tax-credit," on and on and on).

We did build this! Well...kind of. Sort of. OK, not really.



$3500 for refrigerator magnets? They must have been awesome magnets.

Good thing all these small business owners were able to run their businesses with no help from the government.

Huge distinction between the government saying you didn't build your business versus have a percentage of your business be government contracts.

So, you took the risk, you built a good business, you won the government RFP for the business and the President says the government built your business?

Talk about breaking the country into private and public economies...now if your company does any work for the government, they get to claim it as theirs.

So, does McDonald's need to refuse serving government workers lunch to prevent Obama digging up Ray Kroc and demanding a thank you for the government building the chain?

Interesting...I would then expect Obama to demand all new government contracts go to companies not currently serving the government so they can claim those as his accomplishments as well.

Then, we can look at every country conducting trade with the US and tell them we built their country since they do business with us.

This is great, I can claim gas stations, department stores, computer companies etc as businesses I built because I give those companies money...my resume just got a lot longer.

and I built car companies, several banks, the internet, the kingdom of a nigerian prince, several golf courses, a bunch of breweries, directv, comcast, coca-cola (I dont like pepsi, but I have consumed a few so I get to claim that), UsAir, United, Amtrak, if I went to an island in the tropics can I claim I built the island or just the airport, taxis and hotel?

If I go to a museum and pay the admission, can I claim I painted all the artworks?

But, if I give money to the government and they give me a refund, are we in some kind of loop at that point regarding which one of us built the other? They didn't really build me, did they? I mean, pretty sure we existed before they did, right?

priceless wants gov't to spend what they do offshore (he spends his working day researching all these contracts awarded to us small businesses and complains).

Well, then, if the quote was actually about "infrastructure" (as I think it was), then how is Ball Office Product's SBA loan and government contracts relevant at all? Why does ThinkProgress.com think that is somehow a refutation of Romney's ad? Why are the protesting so much over something that wasn't even said?

Not at all - plus you're misinterpreting what I'm saying/doing - what I'm seeing is wasted talent. Given the content of the material he posts on this board, clearly he has the ability to to write. Given his command of the language, clearly he has the ability to edit. Given the sheer number of websites out there, somebody somewhere likely has a need for somebody to do either or both of these things. Plus with websites, he could do the work from home and on his own schedule. The fact he appears to have given up completely on any sort of work due to his condition is sad.
