Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Watched part of the Brown-Warren debate last night, and its hilarious to read some of the post debate coverage. My thoughts is that they both stuck to their themes. Brown repeatedly on being bipartisan and going back to the Native American (stupid) and corporate work (good angle) attacks on Warren. She's much more poised than I would have expected and does a good job trading jabs. The part about him not voting for McConnell for Senate Majority Leader is ludicrious. For her part she did a great job pointing out his specific votes which is always a problem when you're an incumbent. To me he has the hardest race of any sitting Senator outside of maybe Montana now that Akin has imploded in Missouri.

Case in point about the coverage. Read the Herald and his quip about "I'm not in your classroom" was some brilliant comeback ala "Senator you're no Jack Kennedy". Read the Globe and its a rehearsed line that he used 3 years ago in his debate against the AG at the time (I'm not in your courtroom). For the record he got booed after he said it, although not as bad as when he named Scalia as his favorite justice!!!!

If Boston elects someone who thinks Scalia is the model Supreme Court Justice you may as well just lock the doors and throw away the key.

Yet they'll vote for someone who lies about their heritage to further advance their career

Did it strike you that he was having trouble coming up with an answer to that question?

I know, she has a D after her name, no problem

This. It speaks to her integrity as a person as opposed to her platform. Political stances change with the wind. Integrity typically doesn't change. Once a bullsh*t artist, always a bullsh*t artist.

Yeah, but I still want that authentic Cherokee recipe using those delicious Oklahoma crabs.

Not this. If she had an R I still wouldn't give a crap - this country has far more pressing concerns and candidates with far worse skeletons in their closet than someone getting creative with their 'credentials'. I'm not defending her btw and I'm not in favor of such lies, but if that's the moral outrage of the day and if that's the main reason you have to vote against her then again I say we are doing ok.

DC is full of them. When Coburn is considered a high integrity Senator you know there's no hope. But, Boston can get down with their bad selves and pick Scalia Waffle Boy to represent them.

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

You know, I'm not advocating voting against Brown because he said he met with kings and queens 5 times before he got called on it, nor because he thought he'd seen the Bin Laden post mortem photos.

He has an R after his name, so no problem. :D

Re: Elections 2012: Congressional and Gubernatorial

Following up on MO Senate race, I didn't realize there's also a Libertarian on the ballot. This has the potential to give Romney voters an "out" instead of voting Akin or not voting at all. Given two candidates who aren't very well liked you could get a 3rd party candidate in high single digits instead of the usual 1% they tend to draw.
