Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

Yah, Obama should have paid for my waffle fries at least! Where is my justice!

...or the GOP keeping mind special interest impact on both sides.

With that as a baseline metric, about 98% of hipsters would fall by the wayside as well.

That would assume your talking body parts as there aren't 100 'hipsters' left.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

She had a bullet proof majority in her house, plus a 60 seat Senate and a like thinking occupant of 1600 PA Ave. Of course she'd succeed. Only an idiot could have screwed it up.
You're not familiar with how the Dems act in Congress, are you? :D

A Republican with a 5 seat majority has more power than a Democrat with a 50 seat majority. The Republicans run their party like the PRC. The Dems run theirs like this:

Between the Coleman/Franken recount, Kennedy's illness and death and replacement by Scott Brown, the Dems had about 50 days of "60 Senators" anyway. Given two full years, Reid would have still ****ed it up.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

Reid's never impressed me much. Surely there's somebody over there who would do a better job of leading the Senate for the Democrats?

I don't know if I can find the photo op where Reid tried to stand close to Pelosi and she kept moving away from him. Her body language eloquently expressed what she thought of him.

Some of you may recall that shortly before he became Chicago's first Black Mayor, it was revealed that Congressman Harold Washington (major coke freak and waaaay on the down low) had failed to pay his income taxes for five straight years. And his brithday was April 15!

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

With the exception of Pelosi (who was as hated by the right as their leaders are routinely hated by the left, meaning you did your job right), the Dems have this annoying habit of picking leaders from purple-red states who have to watch what they say just to hold onto 50.1% of the vote every 2-6 years. On the Republican Senate side: Dole (Kansas), Trent Lott (MS), Bill Frist (TN), Mitch McConnell (KY). Those guys are subject to the "Live Boy/Dead Girl" rule of incumbency.

If Edwin Edwards didn't actually exist, we'd have to invent him.

Re: Elections 2012 -- Carrion My Wayward Son!

You're screwing up my equilibrium with this even handedness. I feel like I should jump to Harry's defense, or something. Maybe he wasn't accusing Mitt of actual tax evasion, just saying he legally avoided paying taxes. Then it's not so bad, politics as usual but not outright slander. Let's give ol' Harry a break people!

It's a temporary condition. Like taking advantage of dad having one too many highballs before dinner to ask him for an increase in your allowance.

Says the guy who claims to be "back down in uptown"? In case you're nearly 50 years behind the times, which wouldn't actually surprise me, the modern use of "hipster" doesn't exactly revolve around beat poetry and experimental art. It's somewhat impressive you've managed to miss this considering Uptown is hipster ground zero.

Hipster 1950 (lower middle class, college drop out, rents a loft with 5 people, ran away from home at 16, in 10 years will be: in jail)

Hipster 2010 (upper middle class, Poli-Sci degree, owns a loft, used parents for co-sign, in 10 years will be: a lawyer)

Yet another reason why 1950 > 2010.

I am quite versed in uptown and it's more receptive to such movements, so I feel comfortable making the claim.

Today's uptown is one of the most expensive places in the state and is full of intellectual and productive money (which results in an overall avg uptown HH income of 88k)...supplemented by typical 20somethings and partiers living in apartments. If these groups are hipsters your lense is off.

Meanwhile, Hamas has criticized the visit by a so-called Palestinian leader to Auschwitz, referring to the "alleged tragedy" of the Holocaust. As to the faux concerns about Romney p*ssing off the so-called Palestinians, somebody said: any senior American politician who DOESN'T p*ss off the so-called Palestinians isn't doing his job. I've had it with these people, probably since many of them were seen dancing in the streets after 9/11. As far as I'm concerned, they can dance in the streets and p*ss in them, too.

Disagree. Today's youth who have a polysci degree, own a loft and work at a law firm are not 'hipsters'...they are pretty much upward mobile professional youth. Times have changed and they happen to be in touch with culture and contemporary style (ie, not a tee shirt and tennis shoes).

However I can see how aging USCHO posters (not saying you of course :p) might confuse youth with a stylistic yet isolated, dropout, poetry movement from years ago due to looks alone.

It's their term for themselves, not mine.

I can see how aging USCHO posters might not know that.

Perhaps only in the midwest its strictly a label as here...iphones, adele and whole foods do not equate to poetry, smokes and scrounging for meals.

No, you pretty much had it nailed before. The hipsters of the 2000s are going to be the equivalent of the boomers. The only difference is the boomers actually contributed something to society before they became the biggest moochers off of society.

Smug, condescending, inconsiderate "gay rights" bully offers his opinions of Chick-fil-a's management to the lady working in the drive through window. Like she doesn't have anything else to do except listen to this preening a*shole. Mr. Modesty posted this video on You Tube AND WAS PROMPTLY FIRED BY HIS COMPANY. Good for them.

Do Chick-fil-a employees "deserve" cancer, too?

What a d*k. This worker handled it about as perfect as she could have. The only thing she could have done better is just close the drivethrough window and ignored him. But her responses deserve quite a bit of praise.

I've been to mall-based CFA's on only a couple of occasions. Never a free standing restaurant. One good thing, the woman seemed to be a little older that what you'd expect to find in the drive throug window. And I'm guessing this company trains its people on how to deal with the public, perhaps more than other companie in the fast food business. I've read in recent days that they get consistently high marks for customer service.

What kind of juvenile "dot with a circle around it" putz wants to lecture any employee at any fast food joint about any management decision, ever? And to be so proud of himself for bullying someone who can't fight back that he posts it on YouTube?

I'm not inclined to let political considerations enter into personal decisions. If I felt that way, I'd have to get rid of all my Pete Seeger and Weavers albums and never watch a Jane Fonda movie and (worst of all) never eat Cherry Garcia ice cream again because Ben and Jerry are barking moonbats.

Bingo. I'm the same way.

On a related note. What is the purpose of this "kiss in"? What are they trying to accomplish? Wouldn't their time be better spent lobbying someone who can actually affect change? Not a bunch of people likely to be a bit miffed by a mob of people disrupting their enjoyment of some fine chicken? If a bunch of heterosexual couples did the same thing, I'd be equally critical. I'm trying to eat my food. I don't want to see a bunch of people making out.

The left in this country really needs a swift kick in the *** to try and knock some sense into them on how to truly stage a protest. These buffoons are as bad as the Tea Party.
