Division 1 Commitments 2014-15

Re: Division 1 Commitments 2014-15

So in the final analysis, Coach Kampersal continues to work respectfully with recruits, even given the markedly earlier commitments. This is a coaching staff with integrity.
Interesting to see the markedly earlier commitments for Princeton in this year than in years past (there is a 3rd one on the East Coast Wizards website for this year). Either Kampersal has established a new/better arrangement with the admissions department to address their decreasing competitiveness or he is making promises that he hasn't been willing to in the past...and we'll see how the admissions committee responds to that if it is the case. Perhaps he is now following the Harvard model - make X commitments knowing full well that admissions will cut a couple for you... Hopefully the latter isn't the case given the inherent lack of respect/regard for the recruits it implies. Seems like Princeton should be better than that (but then again Harvard isn't).

Re: Division 1 Commitments 2014-15

WOW. Sidney Crosby's sister in this class.

Based on observation (and actually the commentary in the announcement), she is quite possibly a career backup for NU depending on who they bring in going forward. But she has the potential to do better. Certainly the name will help them in recruiting going forward.

It appears you are correct (at least for this class) and that a new balance has been struck between the team/athletic dept and the admissions staff that allows Kampersal to make earlier commitments and fulfill them. Congratulations! Now we'll see if the recruits that he has been able to bring in as a result of the change can deliver on the ice.

From what I've seen on her she's a pretty good goalie but not really stand-out exceptional.

Well, I saw her when she was just pretty good and also, unfortunately, stand-out exceptional. So, I think Flint's assessment is pretty accurate.

Are early commits less likely to deliver?
