Duplicate to my post on the BC thread (bigger audience here - I mean who cares about BC? :))....

I HATE this.... Now kids are not only getting recruited in their freshman year of high school, they are forgoing their senior year of high school to matriculate to college early so that they can be part of a 3 way competition for a starting spot? The insanity is growing......

BTW - I'm also a little surprised that BB&N and BC signed up for this. One thing if BC had NO goalie or even just 1 goalie, but they have 2 very talented goalies already coming in

I'm not sure how uncommon this is... I was told that Megan Miller was also an accelerated player. As long as I've remembered, BC has had three goalies, I think losing Miller really threw a wrench into the plans.

There's a BC men's player who had discussion of accelerating, Miles Wood. I guess thinking on it, it seems more common than in the past (to your point).

One transfered, the other is injured....

Re: Division 1 Commitments 2014-15

the other is injured....
Yes, that's probably a part of the issue. From what I understand she's supposed to be good to go by September but we won't know that until she's on campus.

If they got to campus and Blake was unable to go with ONLY Gabri Switaj to play in net, we'd be living on a hope and a prayer that she doesn't get injured.

Re: Division 1 Commitments 2014-15

Yes Miller "accelerated" from NAHA. Blake is rehabbing on sched from arthroscopic hip surgery and should be good to go for the start of the season

Re: Division 1 Commitments 2014-15

These 'commitment' lists are typically all scholarship athletes aren't they?

Typically, yes (including the equivalent at a non-scholarship school). In addition, recruited walk-ons typcially are listed, but non recruited walk ons are not. (As clarified by Hux)

Also, if the school announces NLI signings - all those players received athletic money. (You don't sign an NLI if you don't get athletic money). With that said, players who never sign NLIs may get athletic money.

Obviously, when the rosters come out, all players are listed that made the team.

Thanks - that helped clarify things!

While non-recruited players are not listed, recruited walk-ons are.
