Div-3 Hockey 2011-2012

Re: Div-3 Hockey 2011-2012

So no teams I'd really want to go see lol

I think they didn't understand your western accent when you asked about schools that are "close" to Providence. Hell, from what I understand, "close" schools would include everything from Salve to Colby, Hamilton, Middlebury, no? They're all within 200 miles, I'd say ...

Seriously, Salve's in Newport, RI, and worth a trip just for the scenery.

Beyond that, how far you willing to travel?

Well I'm contemplating applying for a job in Providence next year...so was wondering what kind of hockey action I'd be able to get into if I decided to make that jump. I'd like to see some of these fabled eastern hockey teams...the ones that you only hear about in stories from your childhood :):)

Keep in mind that all those NESCAC teams (Amherst, Midd, Bowdoin, Trinity, et al) you've heard the stories about will eventually be playing Conn College in New London, CT (eventually because of the new NESCAC scheduling format...although it is an "experiment" for the next 2 seasons). New London is a mere 45 minute hop down good old I-95 from Providence, and heck, we'd practically be your neighbor here in Old Lyme! Rumor has the Camels much improved in seasons to come.

While Salve is the closest D3 school, UMass Boston and Conn College (as obserbear noted) are also close. Hartford CT (Trinity) is less than 100 miles (90 minutes), as are Amherst (a touch under 2 hours) and Middletown CT (Wesleyan) (90 minutes). So, you should have plenty of options.

Good luck with the job app!

(Hmmm ... Applying for a job in Providence .... do you happen to have a BA (Masters preferred) and 3-5 years coaching experience at the collegiate level??)

Camels are indeed on the move. One hump or two? Team should be interesting in a few years...It has taken a while, but Coach Steele seems to have things going in the right direction.

Haha no, it would most likely be a chemistry teacher position at Providence High

Got a couple of empty Growlers that I'd be happy to hand off ... very good beer, by the way.

Will see what I can do to spread the good beer love!

Maybe the Booster Club can get a keg for the rink??

Gotta-get-a-growler...

I wonder if one of those kegs has ever breached the threshold of the Elmira dorms? You think?
