Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.
No, I thought we would lost the game 35-3 or something horrendous like that.

So you were under the impression that people expected the Lions to give up nine passing TD's to Brees?

I agree 100%. Downtown Detroit is very nice. The only people that knock are people that aren't from the area or have only been there once. Unfortunately we will never be able to shed positive light on Detroit because the national media just won't allow it. Nevermind the fact that we have hosted more national sporting events in the last 5 years than any other major city in the country.
Too bad AD will have 100 in the first half, unless BrettFarve decides to have a little fun with the kittens and AD doesn't get the carries. Even then, AD will be able to rack up 100 yards in about 5 carries against the Lions D.I actually think the Lions are going to win this game. I thought they played better than anyone expected on the road against New Orleans. If we can hold AP to under 100 yards I like our chances.
Most people have only been to Detroit once because they got shot while they were there. As far as positive light, here's some!
Hint: Look at the bottom of the page
I have two kids and would NEVER think of raising a family in Detroit. The suburbs on the other hand, especially where I live rank with the best in the nation.
We were not talking about raising a family in Detroit though. We were talking about downtown Detroit being a nice place, which it is. The museums are second to none, as are the sports events and theatre. There is a lot of culture in the city, much more so than podunk North Dakota.

My wife and I are downtown at least every other weekend. We love it! A friend of mine owns the new(er) bar down by the stadiums called Bookies and its on Cass. There may not be a better place to watch a game. They have a 16 foot HD projection screen and an awesome rooftop deck. Next time you are down there for a game stop in.
We have tickets to see Phantom of the Opera tomorrow night. It's at the Detroit Opera House, so there is plenty to do around there. The restaurants are fantastic as well. We are going to eat at Coach Insignia beforehand (although she doesn't know that).
Dirty can poke fun all he likes. It gets exhausting defending the city sometimes, which is why recently I've only been doing it parttime.
Still, Dirty is welcome to poke fun.![]()

Detroit is dominating on all facets of the game so far. They are actually looking like the team that I thought they would be this year.
No, they're looking like a team that is playing an opponent that didn't give a rip for 30 minutes. If Detroit finishes within 11 I will be surprised.
Nice cop out. Team get's dominated in the first half and your excuse is "they didn't care". These are professional athletes, you better believe that they care. Do you really think the Viqueens want to be the team that breaks the Lions losing streak?
