Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Look at this way, only 14 more games to go before repeating history... :D

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

I already rescinded my prediction before this game started. Apparently you missed that post in the thread.

Washington looked terrible today against St. Louis. If we can't beat them at home next weekend we'll be lucky to win 2 games the rest of the year.

I was happy that we were able to hold Peterson to less than 100 yards rushing again. Baby steps...:D

To be fair, I'm not gonna wade through 8 piles of crap to find a diamond.

Whether the Lions win or lose next weekend, they'll be lucky to win one game the rest of the year.

You supposedly rescinded your 8 win prediction but then said this today:

They are actually looking like the team that I thought they would be this year.

The Vikings will quite possibly win the division, so a team that beats them supposedly soundly will be what - an 8 win team or something much worse? I stand by my point - the game was close only because the Vikings (and this is not a compliment to the Vikings but a criticism) let it remain close and DET will be hard pressed to win 2 games this year.

I wish I could get a $78 million dollar contract to suck at quarterback and crush the hopes of thousands upon thousands of people every Sunday.

Hell, I'm such a nice guy, I'd do it for half...

With all due respect, Lions fans' hopes should have been crushed long before Stafford came to town.

You must let the whole Scott Mitchell thing go....

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

And how many Superbowls have the Vikings won exactly?

Just speaking for myself, but I've lost hope that the Vikings will ever win a Super Bowl. I do however have hope that the Vikings will fail miserably in the playoffs and that is something you can only dream the Lions would ever do.

The Lions have just as good of a history of having miserable performances in the NFC Title game as the Vikings do.

Just saying.

Wait, lets make it not seem so pathetic...how many playoff games have the Lions played in exactly?

It takes a pathetic human being to try and talk smack when you are a fan of one of the worst run franchises in all of sports. Congrats you are the weakest link...

Every ******* fan wants to call him a failure when it is WAY too early to say he's anything at all. I'm surprised at all the negative stuff being said after 2 games. Has he looked bad? Yes, but so do a lot of rookie QBs. I think a lot of people just want to be right who said not to draft him after only 2 games. I think some people want him to fail just so they can say 'i told you so'. I wasnt expecting much from him this year, its just part of what you have to do with a young qb, let him learn on the job and learn from his mistakes now so he has an idea what he is doing once we get a team around him (which will hopefully happen one day, but with the Lions you never know). He's a rookie with horrendous pass protection (Jeff Backus, you're supposed to block Jared Allen, and if there is a fumble, you're supposed to try and recover it.) and a coordinator that is being way too conservative in his play-calling to protect his rookie QB. Here's a tip, Linehan. If you always run on downs 1 and 2, they will eventually figure it out, and waiting until 3rd and long or in the 4th quarter to let your QB throw further downfield than 5 yards, you're setting him up to fail. Stop with the disgusting conservative play-calling. He's going to make mistakes, it's inevitable. Let him make them, so he can learn from them and be ready to win when they start playing the Rams, Browns, 49ers, etc.

Peyton Manning had VERY similar talent around him in his first year in the league. He also had 2 td's, 6 int's and 2 losses after two games.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Why are we talking about the Vikings' Superbowl history in the Lion's thread?

I just want to discuss expectations for the Lions for the rest of the season, so, lets try to stay on topic....

Awwww, you are so cute.

Until either team wins a Superbowl we are even. In fact the Lions actually may be ahead, considering we have 4 world championships, while Minnesota has 1.

When was the last time a Minnesota Pro Sports team won ANY championship? Without looking it up I'd have to say it's been at least 20 years.

I'll take being a Lions fan any day over being a fan of a team who's main team color is PURPLE.

On the bright side, they have had more playoff success than St. Cloud hockey!

But in seriousness, do people really think that Stafford is a failure already? Come on, you guys gave Charlie Batch more time to prove himself than this!
