Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

I remember the play where he was injured. You could hear him yelling through the FOX mics.

Although I have nothing to back this up, and this is pure speculation, I suspect that Sims' days as a Lion will be numbered after this season. Within a couple years they'll be replacing all three linebackers, as well as both corners.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

The only reason that I thought that was because Schwartz seems like the type of guy that wants all of "his" guys on the field. I agree with Hammer that his days are numbered and if Levy comes in and plays well we may not see Sims the rest of the year. Stranger things have happened.

Looks like there was some entertainment that was missed on TV during the game.

My seats are in that endzone & saw what was going on. I figured she was getting into it with a group of Vikings fans right behind her. I guess she was early on (stated on the YouTube page of the video), but her and her friend were so hammered that they were spilling their beer on the people around them.

"And in typical stupid women fashion, they tried to cry their way out of being arrested"

Hilarious. Is there any doubt this will be the highlight of the Lions season?

It's already more entertaining than anything Stafford has done.

If Levy or Dizon come in and play better, it was going to happen anyway. I doubt it, though. Sims is not as effective as he was as a rookie and doesn't carry the swagger he did out of FSU. Boy did Harvin leave his jock out there a few times last week. still, those other two are not what is needed, either.

Agreed.

On the flip side, I certainly don't mind seeing new guys out there. It definitely can't hurt us...

With the showing that Washington put up against St. Louis last week, I don't see how we don't beat them. I think this is our best chance to break the losing streak until Week 7 and beyond.

My prediction is Lions 28, Skins 20.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

I can tolerate Stafford's unspectacular start.....so long as he remains confident and committed to throw his passes downfield to primary receiver's.

If he loses confidence and starts checking down for those 3-4 yard completions when we need 6 or more.....the dreaded flashbacks of Joey will resurface.

I expect home games will be blacked out for the balance of the season ??

I am not poking at you like the others, but you remind me of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "Tis only a flesh wound". "Come back here and I'll bite your ankles". ;)

The hardest part of listening to Detroit Sportsradio in the afternoon is hearing Foster and Valente droan on about the Lions, and how Stafford has divided the locker room... and is a "loner" on the bench, where no one sits and talks with him. What unmitigated drama. The guy has little protection, little tools and is figuring out now, that at $80 MM, it doesn't do him any good if he is maimed. Yeah, so he is Joey Jr without the rah-rah, and his teammates are envious of his payday.

Of course, Valente has all that pent up Spartan venom, too, so it pretty well figures that he is going to understand the Lions.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

I went to high school with Mike (Troy High 97) and he wasn't like that at all in high school. The funny thing is, he was a loner. That probably doesn't surprise you though, most radio guys were like that when they were in high school.

Really? I thought that cat was from upstate NY. He is so condescending on the air, regardless of your allegiance to MSU or otherwise.

He is from upstate New York. He grew up in Troy, NY, graduated a year after me in 2008.

Oddly enough I grew up here and moved to New York in 10th grade and we moved back in 1999.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Halftime, up 13-0, Nanticokes held to just 94 yards of offense.

COULD THIS BE IT FOR THE STREAK?

Yes, this is a challenge to Fate.

ETA: CHALLENGE ANSWERED!
