Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Another question:

Did Myron Rolle get drafted? You know, the Rhodes (sp?) Scholar. If not, why didn't we take a flyer on him on the last pick of the entire draft? It is a position of need. It's not like we'd be out much at all if he didn't pan out.

He got picked by the Titans in the 6th round.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Ah. That explains why we didn't take him in the 7th. Well, never mind then.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Personally, what really brings down this draft by the Lions is the Best Pick. Hell, to make me happy, all they had to do was just draft some bum that had LB next to his name in the position chart. Had they done that, they could have drafted punters and kickers the rest of the draft and still walked away with a strong B+, Now, it looks more like a C

You were clearly on drugs when you posted this.

Quick- Name a Detroit cornerback.

Exactly. At least I've heard of two Detroit LB's. Having one hole at a position is an upgrade for the Detroit defense. The only two things being looked at the #34 spot were cornerback and running back. Corner for what I just said, and running back because if you don't get the offense moving in a hurry, Calvin Johnson is bailing on this team. They're set with recievers, but they needed a RB not named Maurice freaking Morris that could carry the ball, and preferably a RB faster than a 4.6 like Kevin Smith.

The only CB available even at 30 was Patrick Robinson. I've watched Florida State football for the last 21 years or so. He's not exactly Deion Sanders. Heck, he's not even Terrell Buckley. That left a RB, and there's a massive gap between Best's upside and say, Toby Gerhardt.

Now, you hope that the coaches watching Suh dismantle the O-line convinces them to take some tackles or guards with the top ten pick next year.

The irritating thing now is the Cromartie non-trade, since a starting CB> a time-splitting RB in Morris.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Well, we did acquire Chris Houston from the Falcons, so he's on one side. I don't know what we're going to do on the other. Maybe Spievey wins the job in camp. I dunno. If not, it's probably the Eric King show again.

It's Dre Bly, which is an upgrade. Of course at this point, Robert Byrd's corpse would be an upgrade at CB.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

He was terrible when he left Detroit years ago. How much worse is he now? Christ.

I remember him as the best of a truly terrible group, which hasn't gotten better since. If it has, he'll be a backup and "veteran leadership".

Daniel Bullock released

And with that, the entire Matt Millen drafts from 2002-2006 are now purged from the roster.
