Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

I doubt he'd be making it rain in a Detroit strip club. The city has put major restrictions on clubs within the city limits. They eliminated VIP rooms & no touching between the dancer & customer. He'd likely have to go into Windsor or the suburbs to get his fix.

An international incident. Perfect!

No, no no and HELL NO!!!

Playing football as a career in the NFL is a privage, not a right. That guy hasn't been humbled enough yet. Let him go off a year into the CFL and see if he's still worth a ****. Anybody think he's really kept himself in game shape? He's probaly lost a step, can't make those split second reads and reactions that he would need to.

He could be a worser Locker room cancer for the Lions than what Shaun Rogers was.

There's an awful lot of smoke for there not to be a fire.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

All right, let's not go wishing diseases on anybody here.

John Niyo of the Lions is saying that the Lions may announce a deal next week. Oh boy...

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

The Lions have acquired LG Rob Sims from the Seahawks for this year's 5th round pick, per the Detroit News.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Well.............we now have an new offensive threat at TE.
......and a hole at LB.......so do will we fill the LB hole in Rnd 2 or 3 ??

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

I'm afraid that we're going to have to. Levy is penciled in, as well as Peterson for another year, maybe two. I guess they're counting on Jordan Dizon to step up, but that still leaves us a LB short. Looks like we may have to go DT, CB, LB in the first three rounds. It would be nice to get a quality lineman somewhere in there, too.

Yeah, I think the hopes of snagging a quality workhorse RB in this draft have just gone out the window. Maybe take one in the seventh, or sign a couple of them as Free Agents after the draft. Might be worth it to snag Joique Bell out of Wayne State. Kid has some game. That or just sign a retread this summer with the idea of building up your Oline and Defense a lot so that would improve this year, and would improve the year after that simply by virtue of being mostly together for a year and adding in a legit run threat to give them rest.

Why would they get another RB? They didn't trade Morris for a starting CB because they liked him. Smith and Morris are fine. Fill the rest with chaff after that. After all, if you have to go to your third string RB, you're boned anyhow.

I suspect that they'll take Suh first, and if something goes awry there (the Rams taking him) they'll either take McCoy or, wisely, trade down with someone willing to fork over a ton to get up there to get Bradford.

Honestly, the Lions couldn't be in a better spot here. Either they get the best defensive lineman the team has seen since God knows when, or they get to take advantage of some arsehole team. I feel surprisingly confident about this weekend for the franchise, now I hope Mayhew doesn't go heel turn on me/us and hit us all with the collective steel chair and take McCoy or make a God-awful deal.
