Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

I was thinking New Orleans could score into the 40s. Detroit might get to crack 20 if they're fortunate.

I am debating about adding an extra TD for NO and an extra FG for Det. Pierre Thomas is out, which helps Detroit (every little bit counts). If Detroit scores a second TD, I think it'll be mid-4th quarter or so, when the game is decided.

14-0 Saints not even six minutes in.

So, for those of you unfamiliar with his antics, here's a heads up: now that Billy Blanks has been proven wrong, he will disappear for a while.

Five.

Five Drew Brees.

Five Drew Brees touchdowns!

Unfortunately, that while is never long enough.

Technically, it should be:

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

Did you guys see anything from the players and/or coaches to believe that the team has a glimmer of a future? You did play one of the best offenses in the league and you did score (27?) some points. Were the points basically garbage or can something positive be said about that?

A future? Not really.

Better then last year? Certainly.

I have no doubt they are a better team then last year, but obviously that isn't saying much. They could be a million times better then last year and still only be a 4 or 5 win team. I'd say we're back to the same old Lions after an especially bad, even by Lions' standards, season last year.

QFT.

Seven of the points were created by the defense (fumble return). The defense also blocked a short Saints FG attempt.

The Lions should be competitive at home, and won't play a team as offensively gifted as NO. Just the same, I think that the offense won't score as frequently against better defensive teams (I think they get Pitt at home...right?)

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

The Lions might beat St. Louis and Cleveland. If I had to put money on one, I'd put it on the Rams game.

Re: Detroit Lions 2009: May the Schwartz be with us.

They certainly looked better than last year. It was a good game up until the 4th quarter. That interception right before halftime in the redzone killed us.

I still say 8 wins is possible.
