D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Norwich leads 4-0 after the 1st period on Nichols sparked by freshman forward Kaycie Anderson's natural hat trick. Three goals on three shots.

Anderson's three give her 21 on the season now. She also assisted on the fourth Norwich goal by Sarianne Lynn.

NU leads shots 13-2.

Norwich leads 6-0 on Nichols after two periods in the ECAC East Quarterfinal.

DeBus and Champagne with the Cadets' goals.

Shots are 32-4 Norwich.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

I guess I missed a UWS goal while in the bathroom.....SNC Fray(?) scores on the 5x3 to bring it to 4-3 UWS

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Norwich still leads Nichols 6-0 late in the third.

Freshman Sophie Mundell entered the game just past the midway point to make her first collegiate appearance. Also made a nice pad save on Nichols' Grace Murphy on a wrap around from behind the net to record her first career save and preserve the team shutout so far.

Nichols timeout with 2:51 left

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Good for Potsdam !
Sounds like pdams goalie played a fantastic game
Looks like Lewis and Roy showed Elmira coach why they should be more than an honourable mention

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

I don't get this Norwich team or maybe I don't get the coach.
You are leading 6-0 ,after two periods, outshooting their opponent, 32-4. An opponent , you have beaten this season 9-0.
Then in the third period, you take 20 shots, now outshooting your opponent ,52-5, and score twice with 2 minutes left to finish 8-0.
What was the point, to embaress Nichols, pad stats ? And don't give me the " we can't tell the kids not to score" line.
This is a very good hockey team , maybe the best in talent in the country but that isn't all what DIII hockey is all about.
It is about how you play the game and win with class. I hope the coach feels good about the "convincing" win on his way to a National title, I'm pretty sure I know how the Nichols coach and players feel.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

I guess I would say that this is college hockey, not mite, squirt, peewee or even high school. I think Nichols had nothing to be humiliated about - they did not give up and Norwich did not 'play down' - Nichols stuck it out to the end, worked their butts off, and there is immense pride in that. And Norwich did not sell out Nichols by 'playing down' to them. Pick your poison! If a stronger team pays down to a weaker opponent, the weaker team will know that, and will be humiliated because it is so obvious when a stronger team does that. If a stronger teams plays at their level to the end, and the weaker team never gives up, but the score is lopsided, somebody will still complain about hurt feelings. Which is better? Pride that Nichols worked hard for 60 minutes? Or humiliation if Norwich would have backed off to make Nichols feel not so bad? They are big girls. Coach Bolding is not arrogant. He is a coach. He teaches morals and respect, he expects those young women to adhere to rules, and he enforces discipline and consequences across the board for team or university infractions. I think his character is that you always do your best, and he expects nothing less from his players.
