D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

RIT up 1-0 over Platty after one. Game is on TV if you are in Rochester or possible elsewhere in NY.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

No score yet, as Midd and Amh prepare for OT. Midd will start OT with a PP of 1:33, as what looked like a slash by a Midd player was not called, quickly followed by what looked like a questionable trip on an Amh player with time running down.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Middlebury 1
Amherst 0
OT
Terrific game at Middlebury's Kenyon Arena. Both teams left it all on the ice (pardon the cliche). Lots of scoring chances on both sides and a bounce or two one way or the other and the ending could have been different. Middlebury's advantage was its comfort on the bigger ice sheet, and more speed and endurance across all lines. The Panthers had the better of the play for long stretches of the game, but the Lord Jeffs weathered the storm well and were quick to counter. Both teams were gassed at the end but Middlebury seemed to have a bit more left in the tank. Congrats to the NESCAC Champ Panthers. Maybe we'll see round four in the NCAA tourney.

Nice of USCHO to be on the ball with coverage of the women's D-III selection.

Actually, though, I'm wondering if something happened to Derek; he promised Eastern picks for this past weekend on Friday but they never went up. Derek, everything ok?

Still alive and well for the time being. I had originally planned on making my Eastern picks and then I was never able to get back to them before the start of the games on Saturday. Sorry about that.

This weekend Norwich hosted both the men's and women's ECAC East final fours and I was the primary statician, media contact, press conference coordinator etc for all six of the games. It was a very hectic weekend but thankfully made it through.

I'll be posting a bracket reaction on my blog tonight for sure though so stay tuned for that!

Must be rough having two top teams out there, eh? =) Still, that's a lot of work for one guy. I'm impressed!

St. Scholastica's Nina and Monika Waidacher are currently both playing for the Switzerland National Team here at the Women's World Championships in Burlington, Vt.

Through two games, neither has registered a point yet, but Nina has 3 shots on goal.

Switzerland is 1-1 so far with a 3-2 loss to Germany and a 2-1 win over Slovakia.

They meet Sweden tomorrow.
