D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

I haven't been posting a poll lately because I really can't figure out who's who, and now RIT clubs EC, Norwich and Platty decide that they are both allergic to defense, and Amherst loses. If EC comes back and wins today, my question to Derrick is this: Does anyone want to host?

Haha...it's becoming more and more prevalent with every passing day how much parity there is in women's D-III hockey right now.

Also, another game that slipped under the radar last night was Salve Regina beating Manhattanville 3-2.

Clearly the shocker was Amherst losing to Trinity and I honestly never though RIT would win by four either.

IMHO, RIT locks up the hosting rights if they win tonight and then make the ECAC West finals.

The only other team that could challenge them in that scenario to host would be Norwich and the Cadets will have to win out the rest of the way for that to happen. Which, they could. But, they've got some tough games left still against Middlebury on Tuesday, Holy Cross Saturday and then a possible meeting with Manhattanville in the ECAC East finals.

My understanding was the NC$$ would not designate the host for the finals until after the quarter-final results are in. I am not making any reservations in Rochester quite yet. Should RIT make it through the ECAC-West tournament and get the overall #1 seed for the NC$$s they will then need to defeat a NESCAC (Amherst or Middlebury) or Norwich in the quarters (I imagine seeding will not matchup conference opponents). Not necessarily a slam dunk in any case. There may well be some upsets along the way and the final 8 could include someone outisde the big 6 (RIT, Elmira, Plattsburgh, Middlebury, Amherst and Norwich).

Well certainly you're correct...I'm just penciling them in as the favorite to do so if they win tomorrow and get to the ECAC West finals...Obviously plenty of factors could change that ;)

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

All I can say is wow...apparently Superior got a little full of themselves after beating Gustavus. The tie to Marian was embarrasing enough...now losing to Eau Claire? They better figure out whats wrong before the playoffs start.

Congrats to Trinity though :)

I agree this almost always happens when a team beats a tough team and then plays a lower team they think it will be easy. Should have known when both Marion and Eeuclaire(tie and 5-3 loss) played a good series against River Falls that it wouldn't be a gimme. They looked sloppy last night and some very bad passes and penalties in the offensive zone. Then get caught at blueline and give up a shorthanded two on one. I think the team as a whole needs to pick it up and play smarter hockey at both ends of the rink. Hopefully they can pick it up today. They have a good team just need to be a bit more focused and play a bit better and that means everyone.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

UWS up 2-0 on Eau Claire after 1.

UWS with the shortest power play i've seen in awhile. Schultz to Schrift for a PPG, power play was about 5 seconds.

Knudson of UWEC scores on the PP to bring in Eau Claire within 1, shortly after UWS gets their 3rd PP goal of the day as Mayhew scores one from Schulz

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

UWEC's Kothenbeutal with her 3rd penalty of the last minute of the 1st and 1st 10 minutes of the 2nd...this one a 5 minute major for checking Mayhew from behind and game disconduct.

Superior unable to cash in on the major and the 2nd is over 3-1 UWS

Superior opens up the 3rd period with a goal :38 seconds in De Kezel from Wierschem

Getting interesting in Superior....UWS gives up 2 goals with under 2 minutes to go, still leading 4-3.

Superior hangs on to win it 4-3.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Adrian outshoots Marian 50-14 (at least according to the scoreboard. Your mileage may vary), Adrian wins 3-0.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

Looks like Lake Forest over Stevens Point 4-3 in overtime.

and Adrian over Marian 4-0

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

After a rocky start to Lake Forests weekend they came out with a win after a rough start to the period on Sunday. The question remains if they can keep their composure going into next weekend @ Adrian.....

Middlebury and Norwich tied at 2 after 2.

Woodward and Fluke with Middlebury goals to go up 2-0. Norwich counters with two goals from Lortie and Anderson.

20 minutes left to decide this one...

Good game..lots of penalties..6 on Norwich to Middlebury's 2.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!

DeBus with a gorgeous spin-o-rama goal to put Norwich up 3-2 after beating Annabelle Jones five hole.

Cadets have scored three straight after falling behind 2-0 in the second period.

14:45 left to go in the third.
