Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - Let the season begin!
Final EC - 3 Amhearst - 1
Final EC - 3 Amhearst - 1
I'd say EC is back folks.
I'd say be interesting to see the Rankings after this weekend. !......RIT and Norwich are 1-2, but who is next. ?
Was there an all tournament team announced ?
There is a nice writeup of the tournament on the Plattsbugh Womens web site. A nice team photo of the Elmira Women and Lauren Sullivan was the tournament MVP.
You could make a case for both Middlebury and Elmira IMHO...Let's not forget Middlebury and Elmira is officially recorded as a tie regardless of Elmira's shootout victory. I'd say give the slight edge to Elmira since they outshot Middlebury by a healthy margin in their meeting against each other.
And of course the western fans will clamor for River Falls and Gustavus Adolphus as well.
Here's why I would beg to differ, Prez. The shots on goal were pretty much even until the third period, when Elmira had the only two PP opportunities, not to mention Midd losing its #1 D with a wrist injury. I would continue to rank Midd ahead of Elmira at least until we get some additional common opponent scores.
D3hockey.com released its polll and i can be found below.

Wait! One of Elmira's D and one F had upper body injuries and one D had the flu, plus their bus driver had the trots. They outshoot Middlebury 29-15, 15-3 in the 3rd, give them a 5 on 3 in OT, win in a shootout and then go on to win the tourney, collect the MVP hardware and the Panthers move from 5th to 3rd in the polls and finish two spots ahead of EC?
Am I too late?

Am I too late?
Maybe its too early. Give it time
OT not in the mix seems to be the difference. It should count; why play it then? They had to have a winner on Saturday to play on Sunday did they not? Do they play OT during the season? What happens if some team wins in OT in the playoffs; does that count? Without the OT, the poll is correct. The D3.com thing is whacked.
...If that 0-6 loss was "playing them tight" (cause I am going to discount the first game on the shot count alone), then I have to go with UMass in the Colby match-up, even at the Mules' barn -- 'cause the Beacons played the defending national champs tight too: 0-5.
plus, UMass has got a head of steam up now, and it's still early season for Colby.
Elmira beat Midd 2-1 in a shootout to determine which team played for the Cardinal/Panther title on Sunday. The "official" result was Midd 0 Elmira 0 which goes in as a tie after the 5 minute OT failed to produce a goal.
The Spartans are an improved lot and looking to keep that win streak alive....they may just light the Beacons up...UMass gave up 3 in first and 1 in each period. There is a good reason Norwich is ranked #2...
UMass-Boston & Colby knotted up at 1 each... UMass-Boston vs Castleton this Friday should be intresting...
