D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

The difference here is that SNC hired their coach a full year before they played their first game. SNC said "if we're going to do this, we're going to do this full throttle" (not a real quote) They paid the coach for a year before the program existed to put together the program and recruit the best players he could get to the school.
.

The biggest key was that this coach was a experienced D1 recruiter with lots of connections, that allowed him to land a lot of good recruits. Clearly when a school puts proper reseources toward a new program, succes can be had quickly. New (or even some existing ) schools with more limited resources will tend to struggle.

much tougher conference(NCHA) than ECACE. How did you come up with this statement? you have teams "much tougher" than Norwich,HC,ST.A's,M'ville?

you can answer your own question by checking out Rutter's D3 college rankings

Of the top 25 the NCHA has placed 8 teams. The ECACE has placed 4 teams.

Of the Bottom 27 teams the The NCHA has placed 3 teams, while the ECACE has placed 8 teams

Norwich ranked 6 UWRF ranked 3. St Anslelm ranked 9 Adrian ranked 11. M'Ville ranked 13 UWSP ranked 12. HC ranked 18 UWEC ranked 15 and UWS ranked 16

there you have it. draw your own conclusions.

They must not teach reading comprehension on the east coast. I never said that i thought we had teams that were much tougher than the four you listed. Quite frankly, I don't count Holy Cross or St Anselm as those games don't really matter. I'm not saying they aren't good teams.

I said that top to bottom the NCHA is tougher than the ECAC-E....(6 sub .500 teams compared to 3 sub .500, etc.)

I also said that I felt St Norbert would be in the middle of the pack in the ECAC-E.

My guess you read the first line of my post, got yourself all in a tizzy and responded. As i tell my students, READ!

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

There is no Title IX issue here. I love how everyone throws this term around on these boards, when no one know how to use it. There are other schools out there that have full time men's coaches and part-time women's coaches. Neumann being one in the past, the men's program had a full-time men's coach for many years, while the women's job was part-time.

+1

Did you miss the class on how to have a civil discourse. In the East, usually when you put something in ink you can back it up.Have you actually seen any ECACE teams this year?
As to counting HC or St.A's, why not, they are in the league, are they not?
As for your students, you might want to tell them that words matter and that before you put something on paper, THINK !

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

Have you actually seen any ECACE teams this year?

Depend's on your definition of "see"

I have watched Norwich and Manhattanville online yes. Have I watched Plymouth State, Castleton, St Mikes, Nichols, Southern Maine, Salve....no, nor do I plan to. IMO River Falls, Gustavus would beat Mville and Superior, SNC and Adrian(depending on which team showed up) would put up a good fight. Norwich is good.

As Pass said...have you seen the NCHA play? I know the hoity toity eastern attitude says All East teams > west teams, but you need to be more realistic with that thought. There are some pretty good teams in the NCHA this year.

Why not count them? How many ECAC-E tournament titles have Holy Cross and St A's won? I'm not saying that they don't count...I didn't mean to imply that. But in the bigger picture, it doesn't matter if you finish in front of or behind those teams in that conference, Wins and losses against them don't matter. If the season were to end today, Manhattanville in all sense is #2, NEC #3

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

AND... What's your point?

First off 24 it was not my intention to slight either the NCHA or St. Norbert. I think that it is difficult to compare any two teams when they don't play in the same conference.

More to my point however...I actually view Plymouth as a first year team as they blew up their program last year and recruited, for the most part an entirely new team.

Given this... I guess I thought the subject deserved a slightly more indepth analyses than what nbound served up in his comparison that St Norbert has an international player and so does Plymouth State.

Ironically and to shed a little more light on how much thought went into the post I responded to initially...St Norbert actually have 3 International players. A Swede, a Finn and a Dane.

Current weather conditions are partly cloudy skies and an expected daytime high of -6 degrees C.

Not sure if you meant this as TIC or not but, Holy Cross and Saint A's aren't eligible for the ECAC East Tournament regardless of where they finish.

So if Holy Cross or Saint A's win the conference does the ECAC East give up their Auto bid ?

that's why they don't let them play in the ECAC-E Tournament, because the tournament winner is the one that gets the auto bid, not the regular season champ.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

Listening to the audio of the Platty/Midd game. Both the play-by-play and the color man are pretty good. I loved their call on the goal!

Beauty!
