D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

Well... uncharacteristic of the Elmira Coaching staff all the same and I can only believe it may have been in an attempt to tie or surpass another Hurd record of 9 points in one game.

This is the most disturbing post you've put on this board. You give every other team grief when they play to their abilities against weaker teams, and rip coaches and players for playing the game when they run it up or call the dogs off.
Now that its EC at the forefront, you're actually trying to defend it. You're disgusting for even mentioning Laura Hurd in the same sentence as Charron/Fargo trying to break a record against a team like Chatham.
And then today the EC crew follows it up by having her pad her stats more at the end of the game with the last goal.

And you rip prez for doing his job by making sure the correct players are getting rewarded for their efforts at Norwich, and you approve of these actions put on by the EC coaches to make sure they have the "leading scorer" in the country.

Voodoo, right?

And to Chatham, get better or get lost.

Hopefully this puts and end to all this classy/no class talk. Seriously the big 3 in the ecacw are that much better than chatham and definitely could have made it 20+ goals in each game. Now that those games are over let stop talking about them and have a good stretch run into the playoffs. Should be a great ecacw tourney.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

"disgusting"?? little over the top dont ya think RIT fan?
Nowhere in the Fivers posting did I sense he was trying to "defend" anything. I took it as merely an explanation of what he thought Fargo was doing... You'll have plenty of opportunities to rip old EC next weekend after your undefeated Tigers steamroll them as they have everyone else they've faced.
Until then... take a pill man...

Geez another illiterate RIT grad..

Where do you see me defending anything? Where do you see me approving anything?

My comment was directly attributable to Winkrat's comment that Charron was out there in the last 2 minutes with a nose for the net. I didn't condone it but was trying to make some sense of it as there has been very little precedent set by this coaching staff for running up scores.

Charron had 8 points at the time and had already broken 1 Hurd record. Records are made to be broken regardless of who owns them and how many times do you think a player has the opportunity to tie or surpass a 9 point game record...you moron.

As far as the leading scorer in the country comment is concerned ...you can thank Dunning for that.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

Speaking of points, how about Kayte Holtz for Bowdoin with 8 goals and an assist for this weekends action against Sacred Heart in 6-2, 8-2 wins for the Polar Bears. Perhaps a NESCAC player of the week coming her way!! Below are the Div III leaders through this afternoon:

1 Sophie Leclerc Norwich SR F 17 18-16-34 2.00
2 Kayte Holtz Bowdoin SO F 18 21- 7-28 1.56
3 Sarah Dagg RIT SR F 21 13-19-32 1.52
4 Tori Charron Elmira FR F 21 24- 7-31 1.48
5 Steph Moon Plattsburgh SR F 19 8-20-28 1.47
6 Julie Fortier Norwich JR F 18 13-13-26 1.44

Listen I have no ties to RIT or Chatham and have no problem with teams winning by double digits or with teams losing by them. been on both sides of that and it is what it is. What I do have a problem with is letting a dullard like you have a say in who stays and who goes in any league.Last season Chatham had made some progress only to lose some key players a coach and an AD give them some time and they will improve, as long as morons like you don't keep talking about them like they are a plague. Hopefully they will go D1 next year the program is a good one and will do what they have to do to compete at the next level. This would include recruiting over players that are already rostered with plenty of scholarship dollars the face of the roster might change a bit. Be careful what you wish for and don't trash connections you may need.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

RIT will not be "giving scholarship dollars". I know that wasn't your point, but I wanted to clarify. The RIT men, to my knowledge, do not give athletic based scholarships.

They aren't allowed to.

Now I'm sure the men's hockey players are getting generous financial and foreign aid packages to make up for that but since RIT is not a full Division I athletic program and they were not grandfathered in, they do not have the ability to give athletic scholarships.

I like the "balanced" players here who have an equal number of goals to assists. I think it shows what a true threat -- she can do both -- beat you or pass around you -- I want more teammates like that! I take Sophie -- nothing like a seasoned vet with drive, hustle and fullcourt vision and willing to pass or shoot -- just see the opening either way

Right on, as Ms. Holtz is indeed NESCAC PotW!

The NESCAC does need to amend the error on leading DIII in goals, as Tori Charron has 24.

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

So just for curiosity, how come people are all over RIT and Elmira for running it up on good old Chatham, but not questioning Bowdoin and Ms. Holtz running it up on SH?

Probably because scores of 6-2 and 8-2 aren't "running it up."

Maybe because SH is D1 and Bowdoin D3?

More to the point:

6-2 game was tied after 2. SH had scored first, Bowdoin scored 2 and SH tied it. Bowdoin scored 4 goals in the 3rd on 14 shots.

8-2 game was 4-1 after 2 periods. Bowdoin scored on the carry over power play to start the third, and SH came back to 5-2. And again, Bowdoin was able to score 4 goals in the 3rd, this time on 13 shots.

Not entirely one-sided games like Chatham vs. EC/RIT.

I buy everything your selling except the DI part. SH being a DI school is a technical distinction that has nothing to do with the skill of their women's hockey team.

Hahaha! Yeah, I'm not buying that, either!!

Just thought it might lessen the sympathy factor (a little).

Although I will admit that whenever a true DIII team beats a "DI" I get a little extra pleasure from it, even if its not my team!

Re: D3 Scores and Highlights - 2010/11

I agree...classless move by Elmira!!! Let's stack up the points...maybe just maybe she will get "player of the week" for this display...woo hoo!!! And on another point...Chatham has to go...they are and always have been, nothing more than cannon fodder for all opponents. They're used by the opposition to pad points..It's time to say goodbye to a program that clearly is not commited to getting better...do us all a favor and fold...PLEASE.

And as far as EC goes...c'mon!!! I mean REALLY!!

Good call bud... ;)
