Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

Have you seen Kim play? Her game is pure scorer's touch - all in the hands and knowing where to be and where to shoot. I watched her back in her Assabet U14 days and she learned from Greg Carter to park herself at the net and she knew how to bury 'em. Some players just know.

IMHO, she doesn't have the foot speed for D1 (and I hope she doesn't leave LFC!)

I have only seen her via internet feed...but remember being impressed with her and her line.

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

They have a pretty Superior Lake up there, too, so maybe UWS are the Lakers that Yankee Zulu got confused with.
Who Knew? :p

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

News Release – January 31, 2010 – Waterville, Me. In a post-mortem of an encounter between a herd of domestic animals and a group of humans (the White Mules and Lord Jeffs), The Maine Department of Health confirms the first seasonal outbreak of West Mile virus in the Northeast.
West Mile virus is a transmissible disease prevalent in the MidWest and thought to be carried by insects. West Mile is so named because of its preponderance in the Midwestern US and the exacerbation of its effects when accompanied by long-mileage bus trips. Domestic animals and humans who work and play outdoors (pointers and foresters) are primarily at risk and are urged to use insect repellant, avoid long bus trips and limit “walks in the park” – treating each hike with respect for mother nature (and the hockey gods). Overconfidence has been indicated as a contributing factor.
West Mile is characterized by playoff fever, sudden chills, inexplicable weakness of the body’s defenses and delusionary behavior. Lack of competent care can often affect the outcome as complaints of pain referee-all compound the issues. It can affect birds, animals and humans, but is particularly virulent in birds at this time of year -- causing psychosis, coma and even death. If the disease is caught in time, rush the afflicted party to its next opponent immediately and administer garbage cans full of invective to completely inoculate the virus from spreading all over the locker room floor. Turn the heat up as much as possible and exercise those demands all over the opponent in the next encounter – hoping that others will soon also experience a similar malaise at just the wrong time. With this outbreak the regional epidemic has spread and cross-species transmission is expected to continue throughout the season. Universal precautions are warranted. Wear proper clothing, drink plenty of tonic, get plenty of rest, speak softly and carry a big stick.:)

Say What? Finally, someone else out there with a sense of humor and willing to share it. Well done PDS, well done! A Burely on the house for you.:)

I read the "whiskey" as a play on words: Wisconsin (wisc - eys, I guess)
beer or hard liquor, either way I suppose Wisconsin is known for its beer more than its whiskey running (that would be MI). Very cute.

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

Noticed Chatham played the series against Potsdam with just one goalie again. Does anyone know what happened to their other two? Either Chatham is getting hit with alot of illness and/or injuries or their roster is shrinking. 18 players rostered (collegehockeystats.com) minus the two goalies = 16. Both games against Potsdam were played with 13 skaters and a goalie. Anyone close to the program want to shed some light?

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

I hope Herring doesn't get lured away from Lake Forest to D1 the way the Melanie Salatino did from UWS. Its hard to think of what might have been if she had stuck around for 4 years...especially when her and Kegley teamed up ::o Granted Salty scored 61 points that year...but Herring could still do it.

D-III women's hockey has improved tenfold since Kegley and Salatino were playing IMHO so Herring's accomplishment so far this season is indeed impressive.

She and the Foresters have been a great story this season to follow.

But also remember, if Herring transfered to a D-I school, she would have to sit out a season and would only be able to play again as a senior. That's a lot of hockey to give up to play D-I for a year.

This week will decided who is going to host the ECAC East conference finals. With Norwich a point ahead of Salve and M'Ville a point ahead of Norwich.

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

Wow! Great match-ups. Worth my trip over to U-Mass since my Harvard men will miss the Beanpot for the 21st year in a row (or thereabouts) and are in the usual running for The Chamberpot (or 4th place trophy -- rather appropriate for my Harvard Johns) =--= Oh well, Illegitimum Non Carborundum (don't let the battereds[sic-edited for decorum] get you down), as they say.

I like the Cadets straight up over the Valiants -- no need for Salve to be a spoiler this year.

And, if your Polar Bears can eek out at least one tie at Orr, a picture of Obserbear goes up on the wall of Kenyon.

A win and a tie and your picture goes up on the wall at Koeppel as well.

Haha - I love it. I'm sure that'll give your PBs some incentive to win!

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

Game has gone final now, 1-0 Amherst. SOG 29 to 16 Amherst.

So what's up with the Jeffs? They seem to be losing steam down the home-stretch when they should be pickin' it up - tie with Hamilton, loss to Colby, barely squeak by St. Anselms. Let's go team!

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

Amherst has NY Rangeritis, the inability of the front lines to put the puck into the net on a consistent basis causing undo stress on the D and the G.
